Painters have started today at our place and we have the option of getting them to paint our home thearte a different colour to the rest of the house by paying them direct. The room is 6m long 4.5m wide. Double cavity sliders on one side towards the wall that has a feature cutout to use for the screen. We also have a window on the other 6m wall towards the same end. We have to use a bristol colour and 99% of the time this will only be used as a home thearte. Carpet & Window coverings are yet to be chosen. The two colours we are leaning towards are Elephant Walk or Cracked Slate. The entire room would be painted in a flat paint ie walls , ceiling doors window surrounds. The only area that will be flat white is the screen. I suppose what I really want to know is if there is anything reason we shouldn't do this. Any problems that may arise in the future that I haven't thought of. The rest of the house is as follows: (have gone fairly neutral/brown tonings) Wall, ceiling & Cornice - Bristol - Ashwood Door, Skirting, Architraves - Bristol - Nomadic Ivory Below is a photo of the area the screen will project into. (this is the only one I have at the moment Many Thanks Anne http://i221.photobucket.com/albums/dd62/coljacqld/DSCN2106.jpg Grandview 36 on Beautiful Bribie Site Start Dec 5th 2007 Projected completion May 12th 2008 NOPE Handover 24th June 2008 Moved in 11th July 2008 Wating on one final thing - Still - Oct 2009 Re: Home Theatre Colour 2Apr 24, 2008 11:43 am Hi Anne…..I don’t know these colours, but I can have a look when I get home.
I don’t think you will regret having one room in your home as a wow factor!! Theatre rooms should be darker anyway, remember to keep your carpet in this room dark also. I think it’s nice to have room that creates a different sense of felling to the rest of the house! I have made my office totally different to my home, for this reason, I spend so much time in there I need to feel like it is a sanctum compared to my home. I say go for it……after all, it is only paint, which can be re-done later if you truly don’t like it. ![]() Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Home Theatre Colour 3Apr 24, 2008 1:35 pm I agree. Go for a dark wall and carpet colour in the home theatre (even if you intent to use it as a dual purpose theatre/sitting room lik me). Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Home Theatre Colour 4Apr 24, 2008 3:00 pm Anne,
We're also planning to paint the HT in dark colour and use dark-coloured carpet (similar to Matt's). We might choose the brownish shade... just like melting chocolate! yum! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: Home Theatre Colour 5Apr 26, 2008 3:59 pm looks like there is no hurry to choose a colour now. They wanted to charge us $450 to do it and the paint only cost $58 for 15l.
That's for a room they have to paint anyway. So looks like that's another job for after handover.
