Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 18, 2013 8:14 pm Hi, looking for advice! We have just put in a new kitchen & now need to paint the woodwork & walls in the combined kitchen/family room. The woodwork was previously stained timber. Are we right in thinking that the way to go these days is a colour on the woodwork & not white? It is a huge job because we will eventually be doing the whole house and assume need to do the whole house in the same colour. So questions are ... should it be white or a colour & then, should the woodwork be lighter or darker than the wall colours? Appreciate any help & advice anyone can give! My husband only wants to have to do this once ... I have been known to change my mind! If it makes a difference, the kitchen cupboards are Wattle Confetti Shower & the splashback is Champagne (not sure of brand). Cheers! Re: Paint colours 2Apr 19, 2013 10:05 am Personally I prefer white doors and trim, but it really is personal taste. Most builds I have followed have either selected white doors and trim, usually for a more traditional home or to make a feature out of a decorative profile skirting/arc, or for a more contemporary or modern home the same colour or half strength as the wall colour is selected, but in a gloss or semi gloss enamel. Best wishes Re: Paint colours 3Apr 20, 2013 10:52 am we are just in the process of doing exact same thing. We have renovated a 100+ year old home and we are going for trims and doors in Antique White USA. Our new kitchen colours are polar white and moose. But I really think it's a personal choice, go with what YOU want, look for pictures in magazines and online for inspiration as I have done Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7461 Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 6008 DIY, Home Maintenance & Repair Hi there, I just recently received my new house from my builder.
