I don't really know if I want a scheme on the warm or cool spectrum, how do I work that out? I do want the kitchen to be light and bright as the house is quite small, does that help? Hi Bec, In order to know whether you want a warm or cool colour scheme is to know if you have enough natural like coming in. For example, if you have a westerly facing kitchen, you will have a tonne of sunlight in the afternoon, and take it from me, cooking in a kitchen facing west is a sauna! So you would go for a cool colour scheme with colours that look blue or green tinge, cool, crisp and fresh. If your home was facing south however, your room would be extremely cold, receiving little light, so you would need to add red based colours to add the warmth that room is missing. Vivid White by Dulux is there purest of whites, and would sit well with your glossy white kitchen cabinets. It’s very bright and airy looking. It can however, come out a bit cold, so you may want to add accessories to add warmth to your kitchen. Adding vivid white will give you a high contrast scheme, Dark/light. Like the image below, Pure white cabinets and wall, dark brown floors. http://www.houzz.com/photos/825769/Kitchen-contemporary-kitchen-new-york Another option is to have a warmer white on the walls such as Limed white Quarter and Subdue Quarter from Dulux. Add green accents such as to your splash back with a moss green feature strip, or if you are courageous enough and a lover of colour make the whole splashback with green mosaics-there is such a variety out there now. This will go very nicely with your warm white and brown tiles as red and green are opposites on the colour wheel and complement each other. It’s not easy what you are doing and trying to create a seamless flow in your home. And it’s very, very confusing. But you are onto a great start!! Happy Renovating! deanne@designsbydeanne.com.au Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls.
