Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 07, 2013 4:03 pm Hello, I am in the long process of choosing paint colours for our 1950's weatherboard and red tiled roof house in Sydney. We like the colours shown on the front of the Taubmans exterior brochure however they just don't look anything like the colours Taubmans have suggested. As the Taubmans website is so unhelpful, I thought someone may know of someone I can contact? Personally I would run with Ivory and green however my husband wants grey so I am thinking the lighter and more beige tones would be best aka Grey Cast from Taubmans. Thank you in advance. Re: Taubmans Exterior paint colour - Love Thy Neighbour Broc 2Apr 13, 2013 1:40 pm Hi, there are a few reasons why the colour won't look exactly like that. 1. Actual painted sample vs printed brochure photos 2. Time of day, conditions (eg 12 noon , cloudy conditions etc) 3. Aspect- which way your house is facing compared to illustrated house- direct sunlight or not 4. Lines of the house structurally, simple or complex shape. Personally I don't think grey cast is too dissimilar to coffee cake, which is the house featured on the cover. Coffee cake is a bit browner. Also the shadow lines of the weatherboard do make a difference to the overall look- they darken it up slightly in certain light. If you go to a proper paint outlet they will also guide your choice as they have the full fandecks with all the graduations of tones in it. Generally the rule is to go slightly darker outside than what you have actually picked, otherwise the colour can look too "bleached" in full sunlight. Hope this helps. I like the bobcat idea - not too dear to hire either. Before doing that, maybe advise them you intend having all their stuff moved in the next 48 hours. Any damage or… 10 8552 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 3622 |
