Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 25, 2013 2:00 am Hi all, I am urgently needing to pick colours to repaint a townhouse (bathroom being painted in the next 2 weeks and rest of the place the week after). Currently the downstairs paint colours are a yellow and maroon and they are terrible - way too warm for the little light the place gets and dirty looking. So I'd like cool colours and ideally something that I can accessorise with navy blue, coral, orange decor items. Upstairs the walls are that old-fashioned creamy colour at the top and a burgundy/maroon at the bottom, but the trims are a latte/beige. I was going to originally put a light grey paint in there but if I can find a paint that will suit the whole house it would be cheaper obviously. So is there a neutral paint that will go with grey and beige (I think the trims upstairs are in something like Dulux's Warm Neutral...maybe slightly darker)? A painter suggested Dulux's Sandy day. Oh and there is a nook under the stairs where I'll put a desk - should I do a feature wall on the back wall of the nook or that entire area under the stairs? Thanks heaps Re: Please urgently help me fix these townhouse colours 2Mar 25, 2013 6:53 am What about Dulux Beige Royal 1/2 or 1/4? This is somewhere in between beige and grey, we are going to use the full strength as render externally as it looks very neutral. Unsure about the feature wall though. The trims are ok are they? They look just a fairly stock standard white which is good. When we moved into our current place we had to paint all the trim and door frames etc as they were a horrible peachy beige ! It's a fresh colour I would just do feature colour on back wall. Doing it for entire book closes it in a bit Re: Please urgently help me fix these townhouse colours 4Mar 25, 2013 9:20 am Good grief, who ever did those colours had interesting taste! Good luck with the choices. Anything will be better! I'd go half or full strength, but I prefer the walls a little darker. We have Wattyl White Pepper which is similar to half way between White Duck Half and Full and most days I wish it was a tad darker. I'd paint the entire area under the stairs to give it definition as a separate study area. I have to admit, I quite like the green in the bathroom! lol I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. But upstairs they are all consistent and I think I should keep them (to save money) - I thought they were dulux warm neutral but they are actually a bit lighter, more like Taubmans toasted almond but a bit richer as it's a gloss. Re: Please urgently help me fix these townhouse colours 7Apr 21, 2013 7:23 pm Both Beige Royal and White Duck are gorgeous colour though I found the White Duck to throw a lot of grey. Why don't you get a couple of sample pots and paint some patches in the different rooms to see what works best? Good luck! 2fk Building Standards; Getting It Right!
