Exterior Colours Take 2

Hi guys,

Didn't want to take over the 'Southies' post, so thought I would create my own,

Made it down to Hopetoun Interiors (PD decorating centre) and was able to get a much better idea of colours...

We are building PD Cremorne with Clifton Facace...

So far we are pretty sure we will be using;

Bricks - Boral Pearl Grey Velour

http://www.boral.com.au/brick_selector_HG/default.asp?AUD=homeGarden_Bricks to view, go to Victoria, then Escure, then velour

Roof tile - Boral Maquarie in either Gunmetal grey or Charcoal grey (does anyone know if there is a huge difference in the colour through range - Cahrcoal grey and the standard range - Gunmetal grey)

Garage Door and Front Door - Colorbond Jasper

Windows will be white aliminium

We are only stuck now on a render colour for the bit around the 3 front windows, the pillar and the porch)

Originally Mich gave me some great colours from Dulux...(pale earth was one) however I have been informed PD use Rockcote for rendering...I have been on their website but can't see any colour examples....

What colour range (greys/browns/reds/purples) and what strength of colour (light or dark) to people think would suit this particular render...

I'm struggling...

Re: colour-through Charcoal Grey and Gunmetal grey, if I remember it right, the charcoal grey is darker.

Thanks V - do you happen to know if one lasts longer or won't fade as much, I ask because the charcoal grey was a category 2 and the gunmetal grey was a category 1 tile??

I wouldn't want to spend an insane amopunt of money to upgrade for the sake of a few shades of colour darker thats all...

Bel,

Definitely, the colour through roof tiles' colours last longer than the colour on. The reason why it's more expensive is not because of the darker shade... but because the colour on top is the same all through. Why not go to a Boral display centre so you would see the difference.
The colour on looks like as if it was just painted on top. You can just imagine what it will look like if the top chips off or cracks.

How much is the difference in price?

Don’t they just mix the Dulux colours in the Rockcoat?????

Thanks V - I think it will definatly be worth the extra cash if the colour lasts longer, will haev to get a quote..forgot to ask :oops:

Mich - I asked the girl at the Interior place this but she said it's their own colour not Dulux...not sure how in the know she was though....she said they may even be changing to Wattyl Solargard....

I think I have changed my mind again though :roll:

, as looking at my facade I actually think it may look better to have the rendered section in Colorbond Jasper and then the Garage Door and Front Door in Colorbond Dune - or a similiar lighter/stone colour....maybe even Paperbark....

I have requested some samples from Colorbond so hopefully they come through soon so I can work out what is best with the Jasper..

Dune is perfect with Jasper, the two colours should be all you need to work with.

Ok, what the girl told you in the sop is half right, but they can actually mix any paint brand in the product…….I’m pretty sure about that???

They are just choosing the brand they want to work with. :wink:

Ok well that part of my exterior is settled too then!

Brick - Boral Pearl Grey Velour
Roof Tiles - Boral Charcoal Grey - Maquarie
Gutters/Fascia - Wood land grey (Not sure about downpipes - don't want them to stand out)
Render - Colorbond Jasper
Front Door/Sidelights - Colorbond Dune
Garage Door - Colorbond Dune

Tossing up whether to get white mortar with the bricks or not....

Love it! Love it!! Jasper is such a great colour!

Love your garage door style too, we were trying to decide on the squares or stripes, I liek the stripes now

Hey Mich,

Just thought I'd let you know I got my samples from Colorbond today!

You were right (as usual

) Dune and Jasper work perfectly together

I have decided on the Dune Front Door and Garage door with the Jasper render to the portico of our house
