Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 19, 2008 4:41 pm Hi Mich (and anyone else who has some input)
We managed to get our hands on some Wattyl brochures today and are working on picking our main wall colour... We like a neutral theme to the house, earthy tones, most of our furniture is dark chocolate and we will look to bring in some bright colours (orange, red) through rugs, cushions, art etc... So far we are trying to decide on our main wall colours the choices we have narrowed it down to are; - Wattyl Flokati - Wattyl Igloo - Wattyl Alabaster -Wattyl White Pepper -Wattyl Kid Leather I don't know if some would need to be 1/2 strength etc if they are too dark for all the walls...I would look at putting a few features walls in the kids bedrooms etc too.... The ceilings/skirts etc would be a white - Wattyl Purest White -Wattyl Stalactite - Wattyl Chalkdust I would love some input and appreciate anything anyone can offer Cheers Belinda Re: Which Wall Colour 2Apr 19, 2008 5:24 pm Hey Belinda - we are going with Wattyl for our home as well - this is what the builder uses .... also going for neutral but I think a bit darker that those that you've chosen - we're going 1/2 strength Turkish Bread with Chalkdust probably for skirts and ceilings
best thing I can suggest is hit the paint store for sample pots - paint them up onto large pieces of cardboard/MDF whatever is around and see if you like them then .... thats what we did with full, 1/2 and 1/4 of the Turkish Bread and a few other colours that were similar - we then took the boards around the house and looked at the colours in relation to the furniture that we would be bringing along with us (we have a lot of timber in different shades/tones - lots of old family timber pieces) ... thats how we decided on 1/2 Turkish bread Fiona Re: Which Wall Colour 5Apr 19, 2008 5:54 pm Very OT: Reminds me of my poor days in Sydney. I'd get a $1 turkish bread and a 44c can of "braised beef". Instant dinner. Re: Which Wall Colour 14Apr 21, 2008 1:43 pm Thanks Vanderlay - those colours look great - just what I am after, I think the kid leather might be a tiny bit darker but in the same sort of shade, the white pepper feature wall is gorgeous - might do one in my bedroom!
Did you upgrade the paint to Wattyle ID 3 coat system with PD? Re: Which Wall Colour 15Apr 21, 2008 1:47 pm haywgl Thanks Vanderlay - those colours look great - just what I am after, I think the kid leather might be a tiny bit darker but in the same sort of shade, the white pepper feature wall is gorgeous - might do one in my bedroom! Did you upgrade the paint to Wattyle ID 3 coat system with PD? Ta - figured it would be pretty close! We seem to have similar tastes - saw you had some jasper in your outdoor colour thread too!! We didnt upgrade the paintwork at all - didnt even know we had the option too!! Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Which Wall Colour 16Apr 21, 2008 2:10 pm It's costing us approx $2000 extra to upgrade to Wattyl's 3 coat system - for 1 coat of sealant or something and 2 coats of Wattyl ID paint, looking at the picture you posted I don't know if its worth it though - yours looks fine
Did you also use jasper in your exterior? I'd love to see pics Re: Which Wall Colour 17Apr 28, 2009 10:37 pm haywgl what did you decide on for your paint colours? we have chalkdust for doors and door frames and it looks so white. I know its a yellowish/creamy white in the booklet but it looks white in our house against the white plaster. I'm hoping that atm it's just the undercoat and the final coat will have more warmth to it. I've just being eyeing off; igloo, sequoia dusk, Worn path and grey mood as colours to use in the house. Did some googling on igloo and your threads came up. Re: Which Wall Colour 19Apr 29, 2009 8:42 am Hi KexKez We ended up going with: Main Walls - Wattyl Flokati Trims/archs/skirts/doors - Wattyl Purest White The same combo as in Vanderlay's picture above I know a few people on the forum have used chalkdust, hopefully they will add some pics here for you My karma ran over your dogma Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5196 Hi there, we have classic cream gutters, fascia’s, roller door and undercover carport. We are are going to paint the roof a terracotta orange colour. After some… 0 4594 Black on light wood does look good. Not sure if it will be as long lasting as a steel finish? 6 6354 |
