Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 21, 2013 9:22 pm Hi guys I am currently building my house and have a study as per the following plan: http://s18.postimage.org/oo7lf0wwp/shelf.jpg I was intending on building a bookshelf/buffet in the void which states "Shelve" on the plan. The entry to the study is completely open. The entry is off the main entrance which is a 2.5m hallway. Above the entire hallway is a void which enables you to see the study from upstairs looking down. Hence this shelving if I was to build it would be visible from upstairs looking down from balustrade. I wanted to make this a real feature and I cannot find anything on the internet that I like in terms of bookshelves and buffets. Do you guys have any ideas? Sample photos would be nice to help induce ideas. The dimensions of this void are 600 deep by 2000 wide by 3000 high. There will be a bulkhead installed which will drop 450, so the height will become 2550. Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Re: Study feature ideas 3Feb 26, 2013 5:25 am Hi Chrip, I had a quick look at this the other morning, I think you need a Cabinet maker and designer to work you something out. It sounds a little more involved than what you may think. I have a presentation tonight for a club I have been working on, after tonight I'm free again. I'll try and pop in over the next few days and take a look for you. In the mean time my advice is to call a good Cabinet maker to get some advice from them. We can make anything out of wood, we are carpenters. It's just the design I'm looking for at this stage. Re: Study feature ideas 7Mar 08, 2013 5:52 am Check out the ikea website maybe? I love a site called pinterest. Its one big site for anything and everything and you make your own "mood board" folders. http://pinterest.com/all/ Have a lookie at my home design folder. http://pinterest.com/rudolf1980/for-the-home/ There are heaps of ideas there to start off with. A bit of this and a bit of that and you'll end up with a great room. Lots of insperations. Here is a little taste.
