I'm looking for a bench with shoe storage, something like http://www.potterybarn.com/products/cad ... ge-benches. Landed cost would be ridiculous though. Did hear that Pottery Barn is opening soon in Sydney... I want a bench that people can sit on and remove their shoes before walking on the brand new floor. Didn't think it would be so hard to find. There are some great ideas from EthosDesign. Re: Storage Furniture for Entrance/Hallway 6Feb 01, 2013 1:23 pm It's true that Pottery Barn and West Elm are opening in Sydney this year, which is pretty amazing! What about using an old toy box/chest as the bench and have a cushion made for the top? If you have a power point the other side of the wall..bedroom/ study/ lounge? Whatever is the other side..either side, you could quite easily put one in the entrance then. Cut some gib out, put in a socket... I'm no electrician but heck, it can't be that hard!!! HD Re: Storage Furniture for Entrance/Hallway 16May 08, 2013 4:24 pm Well I'm just a bit disappointed after waiting and waiting... Checked out the entryway furniture at the Aust PB site. What was described in the US site as a 'leather bench' at USD799 has transformed into a 'leather rectangular ottoman' for the grand sum of AUD1319. For that price I'd rather get a bench custom made locally. Does anyone have any recommendations for a Sydney woodworker? Re: Storage Furniture for Entrance/Hallway 17Jul 31, 2013 2:46 pm This is a great post - am commenting to say thanks for the ideas, and also so that it is in my history for me to look back on when the time comes to hunt down for such furniture/get ideas! --- Re: Storage Furniture for Entrance/Hallway 18Jul 31, 2013 3:02 pm j&r Well I'm just a bit disappointed after waiting and waiting... I really wanted the "Samantha" entryway furniture from PB (it's PERFECT) but there just doesn't seem to be anyway to get it here. I can't find anything similar here.... You just need to remember that timber sizes here are a bit different. I built the Lego table last year - very easy and looks great! http://ana-white.com/ ~ Anne I used to be indecisive but now I'm not quite sure. Eeek - We're embarking on a knockdown rebuild! I must say I was pretty disappointed with the costs, though not surprised. West Elm is a more affordable furnishings store (ie not as costly as PB) in the US but of course when anything is brought over to OZ the price easily doubles. Such a shame. I also heard they're having stock issues so seems they weren't very well prepared.
