I've got another for you. As I've said we are still at the planning stages and are yet to decide on the appearance of the exterior of our house. Our Designer envisaged corrugated copper micro orb if you understand what I mean, but expects this will be way out of our budget. I'm not overly keen on render but am open to different ideas. Have a look and see what you think...

The wall beside the car port and the retaining wall at the back will be constructed from sandstone from our block. We have lot and lots of sandstone

Oh I've got one ......

Should the colours in the kitchen benches match the laundry/ensuite and bathroom cabinet colours?

I've noticed this with several people's colour choices and I like the continuity aspect - just need a nod that I'm heading in the right direction

btw - colours so far are Espresso Ligna floor benches with Sable Luxe Essastone tops, Moleskin top cabinets (Essastone have this combo in their kitchen catalogue and I adore the look!) - wall colours, flooring and splash back yet to be decided .....

I'm sorry I'm still freakin' out...this looks like something from Grand Designs....and I mean that in a good way....unless your using straw bales and bird pooh as a rendering product and then you've lost me.

Yes I laughed when I saw the car the designer had put in...."where's the Tarago?" You can't fit 4 kids in that :shock:

Can't take much credit for the house design, well our wallet can.....but we did have a lot of input and we love it. Let's just hope the council and neighbours do too.

BTW the slope of the driveway is at councils absolute limit....actually 5% above, it was meant to be 20% but they are letting us get away with 25%. :lol:

. I fluttered my eyelashes ...... a lot. :shock:

Copper would be a stunning feature….but we all know what copper looks like after a few years.

Such a cool house…..love it! Very 60’s

You’re in Tasmanian? Hows the damp where you are?

How about mini orb….same as Micro orb, but not copper!
C/B is such a low maintenance product, that’s why it’s till popular.

I personally would prefer to see it done in a render; you have a far more wider scope in colour with paint than C/B.

Then choose a couple of the front façade areas to be done in a sandstone cladding to balance with your sandstone retaining walls.

Keeping your home within its environment.

Talinsmum…..the last few homes I have done have been just that!

If you ask me it’s a great way to go……you don't get too swamped on colours and selections!
Plus your home is a continual theme throughout, making it more balanced.

I love C/B. It has that 'shack' sort of feel and given that we are on a bit of a bush block it could work. I also like the idea of a mixture of external materials so you've given us a bit to think about.

Will definitely get your input when we do the interior......the kids think that they are going to choose their own paint for their rooms :shock:

Does Taubmans Stone Patino have a pinkish or mauve look about it at all??? I have used the colour for the front of my house and for some reason it does not look like the colour we picked??

Unfortunately or fortunately

???? the driveway has to be sealed so we are up for quite a cost there

, but we are subdividing and so a lot of the cost is tax deductable.

No fourwheel drives for us...... that sort of defeats the whole passive solar thing we are trying to do!

If you want that look, then stick to the standard C/B profile not mini orb, it's too modern!

Kitchen time again

I almost have the design of the kitchen, cabinet maker working on it, it is the feature colour I just cant seem to get my head around. I definately do not want a beige kitchen or white even though both can look lovely.

I am looking for a feature colour for the cabinets. My top is Diamante (white) from Quarella, 2 pac white cupboards and a third colour is what I am stuck on. I love the rich red I have seen in several European designed kitchens...what do you think...is there a beautiful deep red I could use in my kitchen that would be balanced by white top and cabinets?

I am not scared of using colour but I want a colour that will be a 'classic' not a trend.

I would like...A deep red colour for the kitchen and your honest opinion about using strong colours in the kitchen.

Maybe 'shack' wasn't the right word to use.

You know we are so used to this design now, that we sometimes forget that it does have a certain WOW factor. That's what MC (our designer) kept saying when he rang us everyday to get our input or to tell us what he had done that day..... I used to call it our house porn :shock:

Anyway I forgot to answer your question before about the damp. Yes we do get damp here.....at least our current house does and we have to be quite diligent airing it to make sure we don't get mould :cry:
