Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Dec 10, 2012 7:27 pm I have spent hours pouring over this forum for external colours and spent lots of dollars on sample pots and I still can't make up my mind! Please help me out! Unfortunately I can only use Dulux coulours. I would like a neutral scheme to go with a woodland grey colourbond roof. I have tried Dune - but it is too light as we live in a mining area with lots of dust. I have tried Hogs Bristle - but it is way too creamy. I have tried Powered Rock - but it is too grey and I would like something with a little more warmth. I have tried Beige Royal - but it looks a little pink in some lights. Can anyone suggest a colour that has some warmth, but does not look really yellow/pink? Thank you so much for your suggestions! One of my previous posts was exactly that! Tried dune, powered rock and beige royal (amongst a hundred others)!! We have a dune roof, gutter, facia, with surfmist slatted gables, surfmist window frames and garage door. We are going for a woodland grey driveway and front rendered retaining wall. Our front door is merbau and we will be doing a merbau front porch deck, and slatted timber fencing. Our render is a dune colour and we are going slightly darker (but in the same tone) as a feature in the Dulux colour 'Mudpack' (which is slightly darker than Dune). We had a Dulux colour consultant come out to us and suggest Mudpack as an all over render, but we just didn't have the guts to run with it as we thought Dune was dark enough. Just a thought! (And we ended up with about 17 sample pots in the end so I know how you feel!) Plants live longer. I was wondering what to do with them and thought about just buying a big canvas and throwing them all onto it (hehe) - at least they will all be various shades of beige! Re: Exterior colours - please help me out! 6Dec 11, 2012 8:44 pm Plants don't live very long at my place...so I ll give that a go! belandchris Thank you so much for letting me know that you survived the render colour selections... I was beginning to wonder if death by sample pots was my fate...! I am going to check out "Mudpack' now! Don't suppose you hvae any photos? Michelle, thanks so much for looking at my post! I have tried below to post the facade, I hope it works! I had a moment today when I really thought that Dulux Calf Skin was going to be THE render colour....could you please recommend a lighter colour that would go with Calf Skin that could be put on the portico? Or basically, any suggestions of a darker render to go on the walls and a lighter render to highlight that all match in with a woodland grey colourbond roof would be great.... Thank you again! http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/209/houser.png/ Re: Exterior colours - please help me out! 7Dec 11, 2012 10:06 pm No I don't... yet. Our render has only been painted around the garage, but mudpack is a beautiful colour and a shade darker than calf skin. I'm having a bit of a giggle because we seriously should have shared sample pots!! I have a sample pot of calf skin here!!! And also heifer (one up from calf skin). We were pretty certain we were going to go with heifer, then changed to calf skin, then changed to dune, then dune 3/4 strength (to which the builder wouldn't do), then powered rock, and we ended up going with a Taubmans colour 'Birchstone' which was Dulux matched, which is pretty much like dune, perhaps just a tiny touch darker. We are going to get the mudpack put around the windows on the other side. I will post a photo of what we have - just have to upload it! Re: Exterior colours - please help me out! 10Dec 12, 2012 9:07 pm belandchris, you have been a fabulous help, thank you so much! I love the colours on your house and wish that my hubby would go with a light roof! After another trip to Bunnings and 3 more sample pots!!! - Heifer, Mud Pack and Dune, I have finally decided to with: Roof - Woodland Grey Colorbond Gutters - Surfmist Fascia - Surfmist Main Render - Mud Pack Portico- Calf Skin Windows - A&L white What do you think? I am on the right track? Or do you think I should go with the Dune gutters, facia and garage door? What colour windows would I go with then? Re: Exterior colours - please help me out! 12Dec 13, 2012 5:44 am Thanks for your reply d@n! This is an early reply as these colours are the last thing I think of at night and the first thing when I wake up in the morning! I am a Year Six teacher, it is a crazy time at school and I have millions of other things that need my attention - damn you Dulux for making this so hard! I was planning on the garage being surfmist and the front door is still undecided. Do you think the gutters should be woodland land grey? Or do I change the gutters, fascia and garage to dune? I read on a post last night that Michelle recommended that you should contrast your colours by two shades - so that would mean whole render - Mud Pack or whole render - calf skin Portico - Heifer Portico - ???????????? (2 shades darker) Does anyone know a darker contrast to calf skin? ( I have looked at ploughed earth but we cannot use it as it is not on a white base...............does that mean all the dark colours will not be on white bases???)
