Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Dec 07, 2012 9:09 am I am planning to paint some feature walls in my new house and would greatly appreciate some colour suggestions. Our walls are Taubmans white smoke and the floor tiles has light grey tone. Futher, Kithen cupboards are Laminex burnishwood and the pannel blind has walnut colour battens in it. We thought of painting the TV cavity with a feature wall and leave everythings as it is in the leasure area. What is you thought on that? Is it better to paint other walls as well or should I leave it as it is? What colours do you recomend? Here is a pics of the living area. Change (paint/dye) the white blind behind dining table to blend with color or hang a mustard/ochre sheer with some texture or pattern over it. I can also see red, gold and a splash of mid blue as cushions on your lounge and an ochre lamp there. A red table runner under white plates and a small bit of blue in accessories (glasses or salt/pepper or maybe a blue vase with white flowers) . It's hard to tell in the photo, but if your dining table is light or has yellow tones; I'd sand it back and stain it a dark brown to blend in with the kitchen cabinets and lounge. Good luck! Thanks TomCat. We were thinking about the gold for the TV niche too. We will be chaining our dining table to match the set and we are still using the old one. Thanks a lot for you ideas. cheers, Servicelocator Re: Feature wall colours 5Dec 09, 2012 9:00 pm travelbug I love that your TV has it's own playpen. LOL I love red with grey too. Thanks travelbug. My son never stayed in the play pen and was so eager to play with the TV. So we decided to use the playpen for the TV which solved the problem. cheers, Servicelocator Re: Feature wall colours 7Dec 10, 2012 1:06 pm I'd go for brighter colours, it's hard to tell how much natural light you get in there. Can you post some pictures with the blinds open? That will affect what colours you choose too. As your accent scheme is currently dark (kitchen benchtops), I'd offset it with some bright colours and some wall art (or even custom wallpaper).... have a look at this site for some ideas http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/categories/decor_styles Re: Feature wall colours 8Dec 10, 2012 6:03 pm The whole area is screening for colour......I'd go a red as well. Michelle, We like the Deep Garnet colour as it is not too flashy and blend well with the existing colours. We are also thinking of hanging a picture in the adjacent wall to match what ever colour we use in the TV niche. Since our we have an open plan house do you think that we should paint some other wall with the same colour theme? Please find the floor plan below. Also, if you add the red for the feature wall , I would add red as an accent colour in the kitchen with some decorative plates and such to help bring the 3 spaces together. Also, I prefer painting another wall instead of curtains and whats do you think about painting another wall in the dining area with a different shade of red? cheers, Servicelocator Re: Feature wall colours 12Dec 13, 2012 9:39 pm Wow, what a beautiful house! What state are you SL and who built that puppy for you? umm I wouldn't go too red, but that's just me hmmm id assume youll get hit with the "natural product therefore variation in colour etc" excuse. How bad are we talking? One could argue that if none of the displays or… 3 2454 Thank you again Simeon.. I will call my certifier for that. Have a good day 4 5188 |
