Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 05, 2008 4:56 pm Hi there
I am getting ready to paint the internal walls of our new home ( well not me exactly my painter!!) and i am stuck with a few colours.. Your opinions would be greatly appreciated. They are by Wattyl.. For my entry, family, study & dining i like FEATHER WHITE ( my lounge in the family room is a dark chocolate brown) Home theatre is a toss up with DONKEY & RANCH MINK ( the colours go well with my carpet) and I have a dark blue lounge.. My bedrrom i like SLATE or REIKI for the feature wall and don't know for other?? ( i have a dusty pink quilt with chocolate flowers & chocolate coloured pillows & throws...) My daughter likes purple so she has chosen ESSENZA for her feature wall... but she also wants pink and I can't find a pink to go with essenza... i would like the other walls to be either a lighter shade of purple of a pale green like LEEK.. For my eldest boy I have chosen PATRIOT for the feature wall and DONKEY for other walls for my little one i have chosed PATRIOT for the feature & SPICED APPLE for the others.. My ktichen is antique white cupboards with a pale stone bench top so i wanted to liven it up alittle & i like the colour PEPPER.. I have also got an activity room & games room which is located at the back of the house near the kids bedrooms... should i just stick to FEATHER WHITE for those rooms too?? who would of thought chosing paint colours would be so challenging.. I want to get it right the first time !! Wattyl have a great website www.wattyl.com.au and if you go to colour visualiser you will be able to play around with the colours.... look forward to hearing some feedback Re: Help me choose my colours please!!!! 2Apr 05, 2008 5:16 pm Houseofmydreams…….still re-writing my synopsis!

Home theatre - DONKEY & RANCH MINK – Also nice! My bedroom - SLATE or REIKI – Prefer the Reiki My daughter – ESSENZA & LEEK..or pink – 2 very popular colours, very nice! For my eldest boy – PATRIOT & DONKEY – 2 dark colours perhaps a shade lighter for the Donkey???? For my little one – PATRIOT(feature) & SPICED APPLE – also nice. Kitchen – PEPPER – I hope that's a feature colour, its quite dark. Activity room & games room - FEATHER WHITE – Use this colour in this space, you have a lot of colours throughout your home. Just a professional hint for you. When I’m doing homes with lots of feature wall as you have, I use one colour as the FLOW COLOUR. In your case it would be the ” Feather White”. This helps to tie all the other rooms together. Then you use a different colour feature wall in the chosen rooms. The Feather White is a good base colour for feature walls. Also you need to remember your flooring which is another colour as well, so in your case in most rooms you have at least 3 colours happening. You need to be good with colour to pull it all together! Whilst I like your colours, you have a lot, and I’m hoping you have a large home to be able to get away with so many. If not, I would consider the one colour throughout, with feature walls. Also this does not include your home theatre room; your colours for that room are good. No light colours in this room. Just trying to help you. I was worried i had too many colours!!! The PEPPER in Kitchen is just along 1 wall as the kitchen seems very "beige" with antique white cupboards & similar benchtop... I agree with the Donkey & Patriot myabe being too dark so I thought of having the Donkey in either 1/2 or 1/4 strength or sticking with the feather white as the other wall (this is what i did in mylast house..) Yes my house is fairly large (240sqm)...Thank you once again, its nice to have a second opinion... especially with someone of your expertise!!!! Great news I am picking up my keys tomorrow - and am meeting the painter tomorrow afternoon - so your adivse has come just in time... Hope your got lots of writing done yesterday..... Good luck, the one wall in your kitchen is great! As for the writing, I spent hours on my synopsis, only for my other half to tell me he liked the first draft better! Shoot me!
