Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Oct 18, 2012 9:26 pm Hello
I have a 1930s weatherboard and stucco Queenslander to choose paint colours for and would really appreciate your advice. Here is a picture. Edit-photo removed We are adding a picket fence; putting roses, hydrangeas etc in the garden and replacing the stairs and maybe the garage door and driveway eventually. I prefer light colours. I wouldn't mind a light 'greige' (or deep white), with a really white trim around the windows, doors etc and a dark grey/navy accent colour. It sounds silly, but I am scared of the stucco looking like concrete if it's grey though. I would really like to highlight the stained glass bay window if you can suggest how. If it helps, the interior is antique white walls (some vjs), ornate white ceilings, chandeliers and polished floorboards. Furnishings are fairly classic style, dark wood and light colours - lots of white. Thanks for any thoughts Re: Help choose my external colours pls? 2Oct 19, 2012 6:43 pm What a gorgeous old girl!!! You are very lucky She deserves a restyle for sure Here are some useful links: http://www.squidoo.com/queenslander http://designerbuilt.com.au/master-buil ... torations/ I am sure there are lots more sites for inspiration out there! Also check out the pics in "heritage" or "traditional" brochures through dulux, taubmans, wattyl or your fave paint store... Re: Help choose my external colours pls? 3Oct 22, 2012 11:19 am Hi treeseachanger, thanks for your kind words! She is lovely isn't she, just needs a bit of work. I will browse those sites for some inspiration, thanks for providing them. It's good to see some paint schemes specific to Qlders. Still happy to hear anyone's ideas/suggestions they might like to put forward too! Re: Help choose my external colours pls? 4Oct 23, 2012 6:12 pm I think I recognise the windows in the house? Do you think the weatherboard and stucco should be different colours? I hadnt considered that! They are really lovely colours too. Another option we were actually considering after speaking to a painter the other day was natural or whisper white for the stucco and weatherboards, white duck half or quarter as an accent/trim colour (wherever it fits - eg gables, trims, garage, gutters and/or wood palings underneath), and white on white for window trims etc. Re: Help choose my external colours pls? 8Oct 28, 2012 1:04 am I am definitely not knowledgeable about this (so feel free to ignore my advice ) But, I love the colours of this house.. http://mylife-myloves.blogspot.com.au/2 ... -home.html I found the blog when I searched Dulux Silkwort because we are thinking of this colour for our internal walls. We got a colour consultant to come and assist. Ended up with Dulux Pipe Clay all over (a light grey - not Clay Pipe which is brown), with white trim (I think Vivid white). Haven't painted yet.
