Hi all,
I will be moving into my new house in a couple of months. We will be getting it painted before we move in (it is currently a rental) and so I am starting to research colours. I have some general ideas, but any feedback or new ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Firstly I am trying to decide on a general neutral colour to use in multiple rooms, each with their own feature wall. I dont want anything with yellow tones. At this stage I am leaning towards Buff It (either 1/2 or full) or Sandy Day. I have heard Hog Bristle is popular, but some people say it has yellow undertones which I am trying to avoid.
Kitchen / Dining / Living Room
This is a long rectangular area with a lot of light. I was thinking of using something like Domain (green) as the feature wall with my general neutral (Buff It??) on the other walls.
Bedroom 1 - My room, with ensuite
I like the idea of green, as I hear it is very restfull. I am trying to get some ideas of some relaxing greens, and whether to pair a feature wall green with a lighter green on the other walls, a feature green with a neutral, or a lighter green for the whole room
Bedroom 2 - 6 year old daughter
My daughter also wants a green room. She is obviously a lot younger than me but I want a colour scheme that will grow with her.
Bedroom 3 & 4 - 6 year old boy + adult male
The two boys bedrooms I was thinking about doing a blue feature wall with the neutral colour (Buff it?) on the other walls. I have been looking at Blue Oar, Seabrook and Navigator in the blue. My son really likes the Seabrook - I am just worried it may be too bright? I want the rooms to be restful
Formal Lounge and Study (actually the formal dining, to be used as a study area)
These two rooms are really actually one long room that have a small dividing wall. From memory the dining room has a kind of Teracotta feature wall, the study a brown one, and the rest of the walls are neutral. Colours I have been looking at for the feature walls include Clay Court, Teracotta Chip (a bit too orange I think), Magnitude, Discretion, Cuddlepot and Coyote. I would like to possibly keep the two feature falls different but complementary colours - as you can see them both, but they are not directly next to each other. The other walls would be the chosen neutral.
Any ideas would really be appreciated. I do not have access to the house for another 2-3 weeks, and then will only have a few days before the painters come in. I am thinking of using the laundry of my current house as a tester area, as I will be repainting it anyway before I move out.
Thanks
Boad
p.s. I forgot to say that the plan is to leave the doors, ceilings skirting boards etc white
