Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 13, 2012 10:20 am Hi Guys. We just moved into our new place and cant decide on a colour for the formal lounge and dining. The room is about 30sqm, rectangular and has a 4m high ceiling and a lot of windows. We just had bamboo flooring installed, its the walnut wired strandwoven Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ . Our furniture is an ivory leather couch and a dining set with dark mangowood table (matches floors) and cream leather chairs. Current paint in the room is Dulux limed white half for walls (grey with a little burgundy), limed white quater for skirting (looks white) and flat white for ceiling. The couch and chairs dont look so good against the walls so we want to repaint something that will match furniture? Any suggestions...i like dulux royal beige? Any ruls to follow? The rest of the house is in limed white half as well. Re: Help me decide wall colour foe formal loung and dining 2Aug 14, 2012 4:16 pm Royal beige is not a bad colour. For warm beiges you could also try Hogs Bristle or something Toffee Fingers. You could also use a warm white rather than a grey-toned white like Limed White. Consider Dulux Natural White, Whisper White Half or Antique White USA. Good luck! You have a blank canvas to work with.....what colours do you like? The leather isnt as white as the photo...the couch is ivory and the chairs are a cream colour. I would like to stay with the general theme of the house which is limed white 1/2 for walls and 1/4 for woodwork but the furniture looks a bit odd against these walls. Maybe a beige / grey colour? Re: Help me decide wall colour foe formal loung and dining 8Aug 27, 2012 2:47 pm oooooooo you have the furniture I dream of if I didnt have kids.lol. I agree, I dark colour would look fab with the white seating. I used Dulux Namadji which perfectly matched our kitchen cabnets. Its a really dark warm brown/charcoal colour. I loved it so much that I ended up using it in 6 rooms including the entire theatre room. our Garage/mans room. http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb303/Rudolf24/300BF815-C227-4563-A9BB-784B1E5C8A50-416-0000009CE0E5A0EE.jpg Our Dining room http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb303/Rudolf24/our%20forrester%20home/9d0dece6.jpg Lounge http://i205.photobucket.com/albums/bb303/Rudolf24/our%20forrester%20home/de2a2fed.jpg And the list goes on but Im sure you get the idea. The great thing about dark nuetral colours is that no matter what colour is the in thing, you can just by the accesories in that colour but say 6 months down the track, you can change it easily. Lime greens, blues aqua really go well with this colour Maybe take that photo and play with it on Dulux my colour. I'll upload a pic of what the room looks like now with the limed white 1/2 walls. Then have a play on the dulux website. I could definitely use that colour on some other feature walls. Thanks so much. Re: Help me decide wall colour foe formal loung and dining 12Aug 29, 2012 9:03 am I agree that a dark colour would definitely add some drama to your room and you have lots of white architraves which would really make the colour "pop" ... show us when you've decided what to do!
