Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Apr 12, 2012 5:00 pm We have picked most colours for our house without difficulty, but I am struggling with the laundry. Kitchen will have concrete floors, glossy white lower cabinets, stone and stainless steel bench tops and laminex overheads in sublime teak. Bathrooms have charcoal tiles on floor and one wall, white walls, sublime teak cabinets with essa stone bone white counters. Easy. In the laundry we can't justify stone bench tops and I can't work out what combination of our colours we should use. Our builder's interior designer suggested colours similar to the bathrooms with a white laminate bench top, but I don't like the idea of the bench top. I think I prefer the look of darker laminex or timber look. I'm also thinking of a lighter grey tile in the laundry as it will be used in the nearby powder room which is very small. Any ideas? Re: Laundry colours 2Apr 12, 2012 6:11 pm I would never have a white bench in the laundry as I am too messy but I love white cupboards there, I think they lighten it up and give it a fresh clean look. I think a lot depends on whether you can see the laundry and the powder room together. If so you could reverse the colours and put the Sublime teak on the bench with white cupboards. Or maybe do a grey coloured bench with white or pale grey cuboards and your grey floor. My laundry has grey floor tiles, Polytec Melamine Classic White cupboards/drawers, Laminex Smoke Granite benches and white tile splashback. Decisions, decisions, Don't stress too much it will all come together eventually. Regards, Grumbles Re: Laundry colours 3Apr 12, 2012 6:12 pm How about a mid grey laminate top? Kitchen/ laundry / powered room are all in the same vicinity and can see all 3. Kitchen is white poly cabinets with white/ light grey stone bench, charcoal splash back, spotted gum flooring. Powder room and laundry has charcoal tile floor and white walls. Would like to do laundry cab and vanity in Silver Strata by Formica (white with light grey stripes) and we can afford the stone bench in the vanity but can't justify it for the laundry. I would prefer to keep all the benches light but can't find one that would suit the cabinets and hubby thinks charcoal but I'm nit convinced.... Re: Laundry colours 5May 24, 2012 2:12 pm We had the same cabinets throughout the house (Wenge - which is very dark) and in the laundry instead of Essastone Crystal Salt which is in the kitchen and vanities we have a laminate bench (new Ash Dust which is similar in colour), with the main floor tiles in the laundry as well ... so it all ties in ... Re: Laundry colours 6May 24, 2012 3:22 pm I am one for keeping everything the same too. I think it ties the rooms together, especially if you can see them all. I agree with a matching laminate bench in the laundry too, you can always change it to stone if it irks you Re: Laundry colours 8Jun 26, 2012 5:32 pm We ended up choosing sublime teak overheads, white laminate cabinets and benchtop and the same dark grey tiles on the floor, with a white subway tile splashback. I bowed to the interior designer and my husband on that one as I decided it wasn't a major issue. Agreed. I just found out today the certifier has not given the final sign off. 2 4095 Hey all, Hoping for some inspiration for my bathroom laundry combo. The tiles are in good condition, as is the bathtub.
