Has anyone made their own?? If you have, post photos. And if you are feeling particularly generous, can you give me some instructions??? i would be interested in learning how to make one too. i remember i asked my sales consultant where they bought a particular bed head in one of their displays and he told me "nah we made it ourselves. it's easy." He did continue to give us brief instructions as to how to make one but at the time we thought it was too far away from when we actually need it. so it went in one ear and shot right out the other. Anyone made their own headboard?? 3Mar 27, 2012 7:14 am Bumping this as I want to do the same and save some money... I'm sure better homes and gardens has done something like it before... Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ You have lots of different options. I have made a basic frame using timber and adding a piece of MDF to the front and then upholstering. I have also used an existing timber headboard (the green one) and drilled holes through to create a tufted design. I've also seen people use large canvases or a piece of board hung on the wall. I have been thinking of writing a tutorial for how I made my green headboard. If anyone would be interested let me know and I'll get started! You should be able to find lots of tutorials online by searching for DIY upholstered headboards or something along those lines. Re: Anyone made their own headboard?? 9Mar 29, 2012 7:29 pm Anna they look great!! I would love it if you could produce a tutorial - in particular for the green one! I would go for a plain rectangular style personally, but I would love to incorporate the tufted design, it's exactly what I'm after. Unfortunately, I haven't the faintest idea about upholstery!! Re: Anyone made their own headboard?? 10Mar 30, 2012 8:24 am Hi Anna, the headboards look great ... I'd also like to see the artworks you've put up in the two rooms if you don't mind sharing -the first one looks interesting .... Re: Anyone made their own headboard?? 11Apr 04, 2012 2:17 pm I often dream of making my own furniture, by fall short in the 'doing' phase. Id I were to do my own headboard I'd start at Vinnies and buy a plain and cheap wooden one to work with, better than starting from scratch. Then you can sand/vanish/paint or staple whatever materials you like to it. Definately interested in seeing your process/results! (P.s Anna, that green one is BEAUTIFUL) Cheers Sunseeker x Re: Anyone made their own headboard?? 12Apr 04, 2012 6:52 pm I have made my own headboard but forgotten how to post the photos I not been on here for a while. I made it with mdf covered it with wadding then the fabric. I was pretty easy to do and saved me heaps. I think I'm going to give it a go myself - I've been watching some 'how to' videos on YouTube and it doesn't look *too* hard (eeeek!). Plus, I've always wanted to find an excuse to buy a staple gun - sold!! Will definitely redo it sometime soon. I'm a photographer, so I mainly made it for boudoir shoots, and sometimes I use pieces of fabric to wrap around it to create a different look so they don't all look the same.
