Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 20, 2012 4:55 pm Hi everyone, we are building a two story house and are at the process of choosing external colours. We LOVE colorbond roofs especially the light coloured ones, namely "surfmist'. As for bricks, we love PGH - concord which are a mottled brown brick Question is will they work together? We would make the window frames white and fascias and gutters surfmist, as for the garage door that would be either the fake wood look or sufmist too. Would love to hear any thought's on if they think this combination would be too much as I can't find any pictures of any houses that have this combination. Below is the colours i'm talking about. Would suggest getting off white mortar though, might not look as good with the standard mortar Re: Dark Bricks with light roof, will it look ok? 5Mar 20, 2012 8:44 pm You can check my thread and photos, as I have surfmist. drg Re: Dark Bricks with light roof, will it look ok? 6Mar 21, 2012 4:20 pm Thanks guys, it's such a important/hard decision to make. Michelle, what do you mean an elevation? Just the black and white picture, or do you mean with the colours of the house? I only have a black and white print. I've tried to photoshop the bricks and roof on but it never turns out. It would be great if the building companies would provide a coloured elevation as part of the project, I'd even pay for it! Thanks again guys Re: Dark Bricks with light roof, will it look ok? 7Mar 21, 2012 5:52 pm The elevation is the external facade plan the builder would have given you. Yes its black and white If you’re having trouble posting photos read through the link below, see how you go viewtopic.php?f=6&t=42169 You could try Dan for your visuals.... http://www.newhomevisuals.com/ Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Dark Bricks with light roof, will it look ok? 8Mar 25, 2012 8:01 pm We love surf mist; we have it mostly because a white roof reduces heating /cooling costs by 40%!! A very Eco choice. You can check our blog.. Re: Dark Bricks with light roof, will it look ok? 9Mar 27, 2012 1:31 pm Thanks Michelle, always wondered how to post pics like this! We too love the eco qualities of surfmist, and the look! Love the blogs, thanks guys, going to add them to my favorites. I've done the mock-up of the facade (very rough i know!), when we get a little more money we will do something to the pillars with stone, stack stone or travertine or something like that. I've only used the garden to finish it off, we'll use different plants, big ones where the blank wall is between the french door and the garage. Actually might put a window there. Would love to know your thoughts. I would have a Surfmist garage door though so the whole thing is not too dark ... I always think a wood-look garage door is too heavy looking - just my opinion For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!!
