Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 18, 2012 10:34 am I cant find much on the net about advice on games room/bar rooms. WE are having a games room with a bar between the games and the alfresco so it can be used for both. WE wanted to decorate it more with a modern twist than the rustic style which was so popular a while back. Basically it will have a pool table in it and the bar and maybe a small lounge if its not too squashly. Measurements are 7 x 5m plus bar. Any suggestions would be fantastic Re: Games room/bar 2Mar 27, 2012 2:42 pm I'm also interested in a modern looking bar. I did an expansive google search and came to the conclusion that there was nothing much out there premade that you could just buy that didn't look tacky or rustic, and that probably I'd have to get someone in to create a custom one-off, probably either with a designer laminex or stone finish. Re: Games room/bar 3Mar 27, 2012 2:56 pm We had a bar in our last build and like veefy said all of the premade bars were rustic or ugly looking so we got the cabinet maker to build one to the exact size and shape we wanted. We had cupboard space and wine racks built into it with a small round sink at one end. We had the bench built in laminex (it was all a chocolate brown colour) and then got a small piece of stone in a similar colour for the raised front where we put a few bar stools. I can't find a pic - sorry!! It is difficult to get a bar room to not look tacky. My suggestion would be to go and visit some of the nice wine bars (particularly in the capital cities) to get a feel for the overall look you want to achieve. Good luck. Re: Games room/bar 4Mar 27, 2012 3:19 pm Auds, what you described is similar to what we saw at a display home a couple of years ago. There was a good sized pool room which had full length stackers on the north side that lead out to the alfresco area. Next to the pool room was a small lounge room which is where the bar was also located (the bar was on the lounge's northern wall). The bar had bi fold windows so it acted as a servery to the alfresco area. The bar & servery benches were caesarstone, if I remember rightly. It was very modern & sleek looking. The lounge had a couple of bar stools plus a modern low set coffee table with a couple of small lounge swivel chairs. I'm sorry, but for the life of me, I cannot remember the name of the display home or even where it was located (we looked at so many). What I can tell you is it that it is one of the few bar rooms I have said "wow" to. "Whoever says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain!" Re: Games room/bar 5Mar 27, 2012 3:46 pm some great ideas there thank you. I think we will be getting the builder to build the bar in and then work around that. cheers Re: Games room/bar 6Mar 27, 2012 5:14 pm Post photos when its built, then we can give you some ideas Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Please suggest a solid quality swivel bar towel holder in bathrooms & bedrooms from… 0 3130 Hey, I am wanting to add a second toilet to my house, bit we have limited room.
