Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Mar 15, 2012 7:52 pm We are currently doing our internal colours and I am a little stuck. We plan on doing a dark choc bamboo floor in our main entry and down 4 stairs into our living kitchen, dining area. This lower level will then be tiled in a 60x60 polished porcelain tile in a light taupe colour, We have a horizontal wire and stainless steel posts staircase and we are going to have a timber balustrade stained a dark choc colour. (I think ) My question is should I do the back of the front door in paint or stain the dark choc colour to match the bamboo? WE also have two opaque glass doors off the main entry, into the media room as well, not sure whether to paint or stain those as well? Just seems a shame to paint lovely timber I actually paid an interior designer to help with colours but completely forgot about the back of the front door. WE have a large void so the area is open (18foot) this is the door a 2340x1200 pivot door http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff468/gogo65/XS261200.jpg This is our plan http://i1237.photobucket.com/albums/ff468/gogo65/Snapshot2011-08-2621-48-47-1-1.jpg Any advice? Re: Paint or stain?? 2Mar 15, 2012 8:14 pm Are you painting or staining the front of the door? I'd keep it all the same (personally I'm into stained timber if given the choice) It would be a little weird if the front was stained and the interior/back was painted, especially if the glass is clear and you could see the other side. You might get away with it if the glass is opaque on the front door though. We will have bamboo in natural, so it's a nice contrast (we tried this setup with my study door before committing to the front door). Re: Paint or stain?? 5Mar 15, 2012 10:31 pm Hello Gogo! We have a similar door, but no pivot. . . Sniff. We have the natural bamboo floor like you PHL, but we had our door painted the darkest brown colour we could find, though the finish is matt though, so I'm wondering if I should varnish it too. . . I think a door like that should be the same both sides.
