Re: Help with changing the look of this bedroom pls ... 2Mar 02, 2012 5:19 am Hi Mclaren, black and white tends to call for a less feminine approach to a room. I think instead of having table cloths on your bedsides, you could go to a second hand store and buy small tables and paint them either gloss white or silver. Then add some nice cushions to pull the look in. Remember to reuse what you can by either spray painting or painting another colour. Well I bought black tablecloths and a beautiful black cushion yesterday - took them home and much to DH's surprise it looked great! I popped into Target today and bought two mirror based lamps - can't wait to see if they work. I guessed the room shouldn't be too frilly (already is with the quilt cover) so I went for the non-bling cushion and it looks right. Need to swork on some artwork/pics and then it's done .. will post a pic then! thanks again Annette For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Re: Help with changing the look of this bedroom pls ... 4Mar 02, 2012 4:57 pm You can always swap the bedlinen later on... I'm a fan of doing things in stages when on a budget. Add some small touches, revamp what you already have, then replace things in future. I love Michelle's suggestion of silver side tables - you could easily do something like that down the track. Look forward to seeing some photos when you're done with your transformation, McLaren. Re: Help with changing the look of this bedroom pls ... 5Mar 05, 2012 10:19 am Thanks for the tips ... it's coming along nicely. It's almost done and we're pretty happy with it - I'm working on some artwork ... and I'm no artist!! I could have had a couple of side tables for free when my Dad recently moved but they were painted a yucky apricot colour and as I wasn't thinking about decorating the bedroom then I told him we didn't want them ... they would have looked great repainted ... Will reveal all when it's done! For info on our build: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=43093 Built the McLaren by Dechellis - slab down 22 Feb - handover 30 Aug 2011 - and gardens finished 9 Dec 2012!! Mini bedroom makeover ... pics 8Mar 26, 2012 2:15 pm I recently completed a mini makeover in one of the spare rooms as it was looking very boring in pink and white. Thanks to inspiration from H1 I have transformed it into a black and white room. So after a bit of shopping around I found what I needed and transformed the room for $150 (cushion from Target 20% off, Lamps from Target 30% off, tablecloths from Spotlight - full price ) ... and then added my own artwork. Still need to add some bits and pieces and that will happen over time. I am constantly asking Phil 'do you like this', 'do you like that' and I have now found that he DOESN'T LIKE ANYTHING! I would put a smaller picture either side of your canvas on the wall. .. to balance the bed. And a couple of smaller grey cushions on either side of the black cushion on the bed. I was going to say that it's looking lovely. . .but lovely is pink and frilly and flowers. . . looking fantastic!
