Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 15, 2012 4:10 pm Hi Experts, I am currently trying to figure out a color scheme for a new home. I am a complete ZERO in this, and I am worried that I might overdo my color selections. Most people around me tell me to play safe, and hence use some safe colors. But I want something that looks exciting and which will give me some effect of coziness at home. With this I have a few restrictions placed by the builder, and this makes it even more harder. Exterior Colors around the House 1. Windows - Jasper 2. Roof Tiles - Dark Grey 3. Fascia and Piper - Monument 4. Renders - 2 pillars Dune + 1 pillar Red 5. Bricks - Homestead Tan Interior Colors 1. Floor - Laminate BrushBox 2. Kitchen - Laminex Seductive Lamba + Black Gloss + Bright Orange Splashbacks 3. Ensuite/Bathroom - Alaska Beige Tiles for Walls and Floors 5. Ensuite/Bathroom Feature Tiles - Black Metal Builder Restrictions 1. Only 1 color scheme around the house 2. Ceiling and Cornice - 1 Color 3. Walls - 1 Color 4. Architraves/Skirtings and Doors - 1 Color So the initial choice was to go for 1. Walls - Dulux Grand Piano Half 2. Architraves and Skirtings - Dulux Grand Piano Quarter 3. Doors - Dulux Grand Piano Quarter 4. Ceilings & Cornice - Some white I want something different and I like dark. But I dont want the house to look dark though. I like the BEIGE looking colors. I am interested in getting some feature walls done with colors around Dark Orange, Chocolate Brown or maybe some dark wallpapers later down the lane. So can anybody help me out to figure a nice color scheme for my house? All advice and recommendations sincerely welcome. Cheers! Re: Interior Color Scheme for a new home 2Feb 21, 2012 12:05 pm I am all for Beige Color. Seemingly I didn't get much views here. My plan is, 1. Walls - Beige Medium Color 2. Architraves & Doors - Choc Brown Color 3. Ceilings & Cornice - White How does this color combination sound? Would it look weird to have the doors and architraves darker than the wall ? I was told that the room will look bigger, but is the color combination outdated or something?
