Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge Re: Colours- peoples opinion and pleasing everyone 41Aug 18, 2008 10:20 am Hey….I can honestly say my home is very average……in size and selections compared to most peoples!
But….. in appearance and feel, my home out does all of my friends, and MOST of my clients large homes! My clients can’t take their eyes off the things I have and how I have arranged them. SO…..I am here to say, you don’t have to have the best of everything to make an impact! I could shop in K-Mart and make your home look good, its not about the price you spend its how you present it all! Let that be a little tip for everyone….you don’t need the best of everything to have comfort and happiness in your homes. I bought two $5 cushions the other day because they felt lovely and were the exact colour I was after. Target and K-mart can be a treasure trove! Craft markets are another winner.
There's lots of things we can't afford that I would like but I don't care! Jo I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Colours- peoples opinion and pleasing everyone 43Aug 18, 2008 10:30 am bec hmmp yesterday my sister did exactly what they did last AGAIN they ...." we went and checked out your house again last weekend" (they actually went inside and looked completely round the whole house) and then *dead silence* crickets chirping end of all conversation no comment, no encouraging word, no nothing *silence* later in the day *rave rave rave* about the home their friends built grrr ok rant over I don't want to be rude but to me it sounds like your sister is jealous. bec how are others going with rellies? I only have a sister nearby and she has been fantastic throughout our build. She came with me weekend after weekend to look at displays and the colour selection showroom. She has just sold her house and has benn unable to find something she likes so, it looks like they are going to go into a rental for 12 months. She still asks about our house everytime we speak to each other. My parents came down from Brisbane a few weeks ago and we took them to see the frame, they were great and had positive comments (athough I'd get a few negative ones but I didn't) DH's family don't speak to us, they live about 4mins away and don't even know that we are building let alone moving 45mins away sometime within the next 4-5months. I think you need to try and ignore your sister or other family comments (or lack of them). Let the jealous attitude eat them up not you. Remember that you will soon have a lovely beautiful home (full of timber, chrome, black or brown!!) that is YOURS! If they don't want to be a positive influence in your life then tell them to bugger off and get on H1, we'll be nice to you and show an interest in your build Happy at Home Re: Colours- peoples opinion and pleasing everyone 44Aug 18, 2008 10:34 am Michelle I could shop in K-Mart and make your home look good, its not about the price you spend its how you present it all! Totally agree with that Michelle, one of my closest friends has a beautiful home, furnished really nice and could easily pass as a display home. Most of her accessories come from Target! I'm not into brands, I read some threads on here where shops/brands have been mentioned and I have never heard of them I have to go into google to look them up! Happy at Home Re: Colours- peoples opinion and pleasing everyone 45Aug 18, 2008 12:57 pm Bec, that's awful, and I know how you feel! I totally agree with everyone, though - even though it's hurtful to hear those things - at the end of the day (or, the build!) YOU have to live there and enjoy it!
I'm sick of hearing "hmm....I'm not a brown person", or "not sure how this will look with that" - who cares? I'm not building my house for someone else! Even though I wouldn't choose particular things that others may have, I can appreciate that it will look good together, and suit that couple or family. I'm sure others WON'T love things I've chosen, but it doesn't matter - it will be right for us! I'm sure your house is going to look just stunning, and that it will be perfect for YOU, and that's all that matters. As for your sister going in and having a little look around - GRRRRRR!!! - now THAT would enfuriate me - she has no right to do that without asking you first! Oh, and sometimes, people just say things wihout thinking - and forget that you might actually be hurt by their comments It's a bit like babies' names - I never told anyone what I liked, b/c I didn't want their opinions, and didn't want to be put off what I liked! As long as you've chosen what you like, it will be perfect for YOU, bec! Solidarity, not solidity.......The Lexicon of Life Thanks for the suggestion. The space between shower and sinks was too tight. I agree about the toilet location. So I have tried two other options: The lower one is… 3 6144 these look like missing batts. Go up and take a look. But yeah moisure meter is a completely different tool 4 9464 |
