So I finally got around to creating a thread for the ongoing renovation and decoration of my place. It is a constant work in progress, and because I work 6-7 days a week it's a very SLOW work in progress!
Everything so far has been done on a tight budget, to work with what we have for now. Moving toward a more complete renovation over the next year.
Our home is a mid-century Queenslander with some great features (like tongue and groove walls and original casement windows) and not so great features (like all the strange DIY renovations in the following years!).
So, the kitchen when we moved in was mustard and lemon yellow, with two different backsplashes, three different door profiles and three varieties of glass doors. (Please excuse the quality of the photos).
The kitchen, tiny living room and entryway are all together. (To give you an idea of space, the entryway is almost as big as the current living room).

We have so far finished painting the master bedroom and the living/kitchen/entry. We picked Dulux Tranquil Retreat, and white from the can for the window frames. Our next job is to add skirting to the entire house (it appears to have been removed in the 80s, leaving gaps around the walls, and the door frames stopping 20cm from the floor!).
Entry
Painted in Tranquil Retreat with the door in Dulux Guild Grey (fantastic colour by the way, I love it!). Still need to add the skirting, and find a large enough console table to fill the side wall, and maybe find a bench seat instead of my Ghost chair in the corner.
Kitchen
In the kitchen we painted the wall with Dulux Tranquil Retreat, and painted the cupboards in Gloss White enamel. We added some moulding to the pantry door and painted it with blackboard paint. We've removed the mismatched glass from the upper shelves and painted the insides in grey to make a place to display some of our most commonly used dishes. I also used laminate paint to paint the backsplashes until we have a chance to replace them.
Bedroom
So far, the bedroom has just been painted and I've made pelmets to cover the ugly fluorescent lighting (the ceiling lights have been removed). We made the green headboard and added some old bedside tables. This room is due for an overhaul this year
I won't bore you with the To Do list at this stage, but will be sure to keep the thread updated as we start the next stages of the renovation; painting the remaining two bedrooms, adding skirting and enclosing the downstairs area.
You can always find more of my inspiration and ideas on my blog too: http://mydesignethos.blogspot.com.
Cheers,
Anna
