Michelle has a unique approach to her decorating. No job is too big or too small, and she is always willing to answer questions - even going out of her way to do so by sourcing suppliers, products, etc. Michelle has the skill of being able to apply her decorating flair to different styles from traditional through to contemporary.
Over the time I have consulted Michelle on decorating and home improvement ideas she has been a wealth of knowledge and has always shown me the right direction.

Michelle is a professional in her field and I have found her interior and exterior colour schemes were designed to suit my personal ideals, whilst harmonising with location of the building, my lifestyle and the overall theme I had in mind.
Whilst our consultation as done via email with photos and descriptions, (She asked so many questions) I found her reports was just what I wanted.
The report was very detailed and written with a level of flexibility and suggested alternative colours and options to help me along the path of professionally designing my houses colour scheme.

Being the first one to admit I am a very difficult customer, Michelle helped me with my exterior colours and was spot on, and where others failed to understand the look I was after with the interior of my house,(minimalist) Michelle knew what I wanted exactly.

I can’t explain why I hesitated at the thought of paying less than $300 on a colour consultant for my new $300,000 home but I did. Yet I couldn’t get the money out of my pockets quick enough to pay more than that just to get metallic paint on my new car! Go figure.

Anyway, thanks to a moment of temporary sanity, I decided to bite the bullet and engage a colour consultant.

Thankfully the next decision of whom to engage was much easier. Having been an avid reader of the homeone forum for the past six months I knew whom I wanted; Michelle. Anyone who has spent time on this forum would know that Michelle has an extremely generous spirit, having helped hundreds, if not thousands of people with free advice.

Needless to say I have not regretted my decision. Michelle (quite tactfully) steered my wife and I away from our original selections to a set of colours much better suited to our home and, I must say, personalities. That was she able to do this in via the internet and without delay is a true testament to her professionalism.

Our initial selections for our new build were difficult to make, and we weren't entirely confident that we had made the right decisions; especially with the huge variety of choices available. We contacted Michelle who asked some questions about our preferred style, furniture and scheme. She then coordinated a range of colours and selections that suited our budget and lifestyle.

She was fantastic to work with and we really appreciated the time, effort and thoughtful consideration she put into our selections. Her sense of style is terrific and she was very in tune with our needs. We now feel very comfortable with the selections chosen for our new home. Every now and then we call on her expertise and she helps us feel confident about our decision or offers alternative suggestions.

and what Ive learnt

for all your hard work, time and patience with me

Although I could definately see the benefit of using an interior decorator/colour consultant I was too nervous to meet with and hire one, thinking I might not explain myself well and end up with something I didnt like etc. Not being a particularly confident person I was a bit daunted and thought it would just be easier to do it myself.

What I found however is that it's FAR more difficult and time consuming
making all the decisions myself, sourcing all the different colours and materials, and having to spend hours talking to many different people in many different shops on subjects I have limited knowledge about, rather than just one! Luckily I was then recommended michelle.

I now know it would have been far easier and far more cost effective
to simply use Michelle's knowledge and expertise from the beginning.
She has since saved me from many mistakes and given me great friendly advice and guidance, I couldnt be happier. I only wish I had known of her sooner. I highly recommend her cost effective and professional services.

Whilst in the design stage of the renovation of our new family home I quickly realized that I wanted “expert” colour advice to ensure we didn’t end up with a fairly expensive “ugly” home.

I got Michelle’s name from the homeone forum. I was so impressed by her generosity in assisting people on that forum with excellent advice and colour selections, which often seemed quite time consuming.
I was certainly not let down in person or email.

Michelle really listened to what we wanted our home to “feel” like as well as our own colour thoughts. She quickly and confidently came up with colour and material selections that we love and feel “right” for us. Even the final colour folder she mailed to us was beautifully presented.

Michelle is a genuinely lovely person and even now that our official working relationship has ended she has very graciously (and again quickly) helped me with a few more questions. I really can’t thank her enough. We are so impressed with both the quality of her work and we also found her very affordable. We can’t wait to share with her photos of the final product (when it finally happens!).

Can I just say that if you are thinking of using Michelle for an email consult then do it. I don't know why I resisted the idea of using an interior designer, but my DH said that considering we are spending over $300K on a house, $300 on a email consult was a cheap price to pay to get peace of mind instead of stressing out. And it's been worth heaps more.

We really just needed someone to bounce ideas off and get some opinions and ideas. You have to make so many decisions in what is a relatively short space of time, not to mention trying to put existing furniture into a non existent future colour scheme.

My kitchen has given me nightmares and Michelle came up with a fabulous colour and I love it. It is going to be the theme colour throughout the house.

She listened to me and really gave me great ideas to think about. I never really appreciated exactly how well it would clarify exactly what I was after. Not to mention that it has made building a much more enjoyable and exciting experience , rather than a stressful one because I was changing my mind repeatedly. I now have a great book that goes with me everywhere to coordinate fabrics, carpets, blinds, ceramics, everything.

The initial thought of consulting an interior decorator was a little daunting to me.
I thought only the rich used the services of an interior decorator.
Then I thought no, the rich can afford to get it wrong but I can’t!

I started out reading all I could from the net and came across Michelle Stokes from De Novo Concepts. After reading Michelle’s comments on the Homeone forum on colours and ideas I soon realised that it was her classy idea’s that was going to make my home look a million dollars.

My exterior colour schedule was not an easy task. I opted for a colorbond roof and custom orb wall cladding. The choice of colours available was limited when also considering the choice of standard aluminium window colours available. I didn’t want my home to look like a water tank on stumps.

To say that I am ecstatically happy with Michelle’s colour selection would be an understatement. The colour combinations she chose for me allowed me to remain within my budget and at the same time keep with the neutral colour scheme that I truly love.

I no longer go to bed at night, waking up in the middle of the night thinking colours. I am going to truly love my new home and feel that I have done it justice by consulting a true professional in Michelle Stokes.
