Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Dec 21, 2011 9:17 pm Ok Looking for advise/reassurance. We are looking to paint the exterior of our place. Initially we were thinking grey but when we painted the boards it just didn't look/feel right to me. After trying numerous shades and not being closer to a decision, we ended up with a colour consultant over. We started thinking about browns as this is what I had liked most on peoples fences/rendered places. in the end we bought a sample pot of Boycott (dulux) which we think we will paint the whole house in bar the awnings, front door, window and fence. These will be in Stowe white. The colour does look pretty dark but I dont mind it. I guess I am scared as it is so different to the federation colours we have now. If I went half strength is it a real difference in colour? What do people in the know think of painting a weatherboard in this kind of colour? Re: Weatherboard exterior - thinking of going for a dark col 2Dec 22, 2011 6:12 am Boycott seems to be an old colour now with Dulux I couldn’t find it in my fandeck or on their site….but found the colour on another site. Yes, it’s a very deep brown, nice colour and will look really nice with the Stowe White. Just one thing to remember with dark colours, they do attract the heat, do you have insulation in your walls? NO, I wouldn’t half Boycott you will be altering the colour and loose the punch it will have. Ok - since I posted it looks like we are going string which is lighter but still browny. If we do this colour is stowe white a good match or would natural white be better? It is funny how the paint colour looks so different depending on where you stand looking at the house/time of day etc. Very confusing. isn't a garage level with the rest of the house a given? pretty sure they 'came around' long time ago. if you have a flat block, the garage is usually level with the rest… 1 17518 2 5920 1 19721 |
