Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Nov 21, 2011 12:05 pm Hi everyone I am starting to doubt my choice of laminates for the bathroom. I am hopeless with colours and pretty much went with the suggestions made by the lady in the tile shop. My main concern is the benchtop as at the moment I have the same laminate for both the bench and the cupboards and I'm not sure this will look ok. The colours are: Floor tile: Kale Rainbow Slate Wall tile: Lanka Flute Milk Feature tile: Listello Pepper (horizontal strip in shower and entire bath hob) Cupboards: Formica Brushed Silver Benchtop: Formica Brushed Silver Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The ensuite is the same, except the feature tile is Listello Water (between vanity and mirror, and horizontal strip in shower) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Do the colours work? Will it look ok having the benchtop and cupboard doors the same? If not, I would be grateful for suggestions for the benchtop (can be Formica, Laminex or possibly Essa Stone if I can talk hubby around!!) I'd probably match your benchtops to the floor tile. That is probably why the tile lady ended up suggesting what she did as it seems the choices are limited when white is taken out of the equation. I'm not too fussed on the top and cupboards the same selection as you have. I like those two colours and think they work with the floor & wall tiles and the feature tile in the main bathroom but not so much with the blue in the ensuite. The thing I liked about the brushed silver was that it was bright and it stood out against the floor tile. I'm not sure if the Silver Shadow and Bliss Cinder would make the room feel darker? I didn't have a lot of luck finding a darker grey that went well with the brushed silver and the feature tiles. The lady in the showroom suggested Formica Papiro Storm but I'm not sure it works with the floor tile. I wouldn't have the same benchtops at the cupboards though. I would go a darker grey like the floor tile for the benchtops, like the gilbeys and Michelle suggested. Re: What colour benchtop should I have for the vanity? 9Nov 23, 2011 5:20 pm HI soakedblonde! I think having the bench and vanity all the same can look good, although it isn't as common. I have to admit though that I usually prefer it when using timber grain laminates. I used the same laminate colour (Laminex Burnished Wood) in this display home, with the matt finish on the front, and the gloss finish on the top. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Have you considered using a timber laminate instead of the grey? When you use a lot of grey and white in a space it can be nice to add a timber, or timber look, to warm the area up. Thanks for the picture EthosDesign. I think that vanity looks amazing but I agree that it probably won't work with a non timber laminate. I think having the different finishes helps too and I couldn't do this if I wanted to stick with the silver. I have taken a pic with Papiro Storm - do you think it works? The skirting tile will be the white.
