Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Feb 11, 2008 9:30 am Phoenix, if you want to play with black, or some dark blues/greys, you can always use them in your HT. Even if you don’t want to commit to painting walls and or ceiling in dark colours you can always incorporate dark curtains either over windows or across the front and sides of the room.
If you are going to be using a projector in the HT room then a Bat cave is the go. IMO It takes a brave person to have a bat cave. HAHAHA, thanks kiwi056, i have already thought of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I already asked the question with our HT guru's, but was advised that it would be very dark in black and to possibly opt for a more charcoal/chocolate colour..... Even movie cinema's are not painted black i suppose.....but hey, still trying to get it past the hubby..... he's okay with charcoal/chocolate but NOT black.... But I can picture a black wall behind the fixed 125" screen right now..... I'll keep working on it though, believe me, i don't give up that easily.... Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 4Feb 11, 2008 9:47 am LOL, that's what i'm hoping for, worst case scenario i'll compromise and go to 120"...but that's it. Theatre room....or morgue!! LOL, Mish you need to remember with a theatre anything shiny will reflect the light from the screen. So door handles, light fittings, pictures with glass on the walls, glass tables etc will reflect the light and distract the viewer... The other thing is that we are going shades of brown etc through the house, so i do not want the theatre to stand out TOO much, well i do......... but not a really dramatic difference..... but i am still looking out for colours... Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 11Feb 11, 2008 10:20 am Just kidding! Our theatre room walls are all "grey mood". Which looks more like "slightly browney greyish mood which changed colour when the carpet went in"
Who just moved that?? Moving comment....... Built Porter Davis "Dromana" 2007. Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 12Feb 11, 2008 10:32 am vanderlay Who just moved that?? Moving comment....... Sorry V, thought that a seperate thread would be better suited as we'll get side-tracked from Michelle's original thread. So I moved it. And kiwi056, we are not having 2 rows of seats now, so we are able to fit that size screen in and not be too close... we are now looking at a U shaped modular set-up to hug the room so to speak.... LOL, will definitely be posting pics, or Matt and Rod might as they (Audio Visual Dreams) are the lucky devils who get to deal with ME as a client.... Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 13Feb 11, 2008 11:01 am Great idea splitting the thread, we had taken poor Michelle’s thread off topic.
I only have one row of four chairs in my room. I find if you have too many people in the room some tend to want to talk and annoys those that want to watch. IMO HT is more suited to family, I find with visitors it’s much better to sit around and talk with music played in the background. Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 14Feb 11, 2008 11:04 am Don’t worry about me and my threads……they are never THAT serious anyway!
If they were you’d all know….. I’m often guilty of “off topic” in other people threads threads!!! Most of my threads are for conversation, in any direction…. I'd love to see it??
I agree, sorry i can't chat during a movie... with such a great room, why waste it just chatting in there....go outside to do that.... too distracting!!! Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 17Feb 11, 2008 11:12 am Michelle Most of my threads are for conversation, in any direction…. ANY DIRECTION MISH?????? I think over the past few months, we've experimented with EVERY direction there is....haven't we??? LOL Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 18Feb 11, 2008 11:14 am I can name a couple I’m not allowed to go in …..but yes just about EVERY direction…………… Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Using Black Paint in the Theatre Room 19Feb 12, 2008 2:01 pm Obviously bat caves aren’t too popular amongst the members here. I wasn’t allowed to go for dark colours all over in my room either, although a friend of mine went with dark aqua colours in his dedicated room and it looks stunning IMO. The warning is on the sticker on the door too. Second the aluminium powdercoat 6 18191 Thankyou for your advice.
