Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 22, 2011 12:45 pm Good morning! I recieved an email from our builder saying that the developer rejected our front elevation because we are using one colour render, instead of two. Apparently, they do not taken into consideration the fact that my front and garage doors are a different colour Which part of the render would you colour and which colour would you use (windspray or monument)? This was what we had chosen: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ We dont want to do anything too daring because we dont want the house to date. Re: Exterior House Colours - Stoopid Developer Guidelines 2Sep 22, 2011 1:20 pm Hi alt0160, If your wanting to stay with the Shale Grey/Windspray/Monument combination, you could possibly change the render colour around the front three window projection to Windspray to balance out the garage? Re: Exterior House Colours - Stoopid Developer Guidelines 3Sep 22, 2011 2:35 pm I think having a darker colour around the windows would look good. Another option could be to paint the central section where you front door is in Monument or another bold colour, so you have three layers of colour across the front. The darker colour would make the central section recede and give the house more depth, and would also draw attention to your front door. Developer guidelines are so frustrating, aren't they? I share your frustrations regarding developer and council guidelines - ours were very strict. I thought i had followed them perfectly and we still ended up changing our bricks. Luckily I prefer the new bricks! Being shaded I wouldnt have to worry so much about a dark colour render fading. Oh yes. Thankfully the cost of an extra colour render isnt as bad as the cost to comply with council's 6m setback rule - we had to extend the portico. It is 1.8m deep! I think it is more of a porch than a portico kdgirl I share your frustrations regarding developer and council guidelines - ours were very strict. Edit: Im hoping I have drawn my portico correctly. Its a bit hard to tell. So that the whole front projection in that section is Windspray? I also like the Monument around the front door as suggested by your Sales Consultant. I have recently seen a house with Monument render to the front porch and it looked fantastic! It was a Porter Davis display home, I will see if I can find the name of it if your interested in having a look on their website. Re: Exterior House Colours - Stoopid Developer Guidelines 7Sep 22, 2011 6:37 pm I found it. It's a Porter Davis Lifestyle home, the "Darnley" at the Bernly Gardens display in Berwick. Sorry, I tried to copy the link for you but it's not working for me. The Monument does look a bit faded in the picture but was a really nice strong colour in person. It's so hard isn't it! You just don't want to choose the wrong things, although at least with render you can paint over it if it doesn't turn out as you were wanting. Best of luck! I painted your suggestion: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The annoying thing is that the front of the house is different to the display, so I cant go there and imagine what it will look like. Thankyou so much, I googled the house you suggested. The monument does look quite faded, its an interesting idea. very bold!
