Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 21, 2011 12:12 am Hi Michelle, We painted our house two years ago when we first moved in, but after a trip to a friend's house that is really lovely and bright, I've realised how dull my house looks. My friend (in the UK) had a beautiful combination of aqua, hot pink and lime green, but she had light wood furniture and cream walls, so I'm not sure if those colours would go with my dark furniture. We can't afford to repaint all the internal walls or replace any of the furniture, but I may be able to convince hub to paint or wallpaper the recesses. Our house is similar in layout and kitchen colours to the Plunkett Daintree http://www.plunketthomes.com.au/daintree.aspx , so there is only really natural light from one direction (south). We didn't build the house. The colours in the main areas are: Ceiling /Cornice - White Walls - Solver Smoke Pearl in main areas and Solver Wallaby (I think, or very similar) in recesses Skirting / Architrave - Solver Smoke Pearl Windows / Reveals / Frames - a very dark grey Doors - white Window Treatments - roller blinds, similar to Solver Wallaby Flooring - porcelain topped tiles (apparently) Lighting - downlights Sofas - similar to Solver Wallaby Tables/entertainment units etc - Espresso colour I have accented in a lime green with cushions, vases etc, but the main stills seems really bland/dull, especially in the winter. I would like to add another colour - what would you suggest? Despite the brown-ness of the decor, I do actually really like bright colours. Re: Colour scheme help 2Sep 21, 2011 6:26 am Can you post a couple of photos? Also....does your house get the same natural lighting as your friends house did? I have attached some photos. Please excuse the toys and mess. I have included the dark one because, well, that's how dark it is. For the moment we have a cream colourbond fence that reflects the light back into the house, but as plants grow, that will eventually be covered. My friend has light from two sides, north and south, so she gets direct sunlight into her house. Many thanks again, Natalie Re: Colour scheme help 4Sep 21, 2011 6:54 pm Hi Natalie, Thanks for the pics I have saved them to my photos so I can look over them. I'm busy for the next couple of nights with online consultations. I'll try and put something together for you on Friday night. Leave the green print on the wall with the orange they will go well together. I’m glad colour is making a come back means I get to be really creative again! I'll let you know how I get on. The room looks very masculine with all that dark wood, but it doesn't lend itself to curtains or wallpaper unfortunately. Thanks very much for your time. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com I'm renovating - building a small extension at the back of the late Edwardian house. This is the first stage. Second stage of the renovation will be to replace roof on… 0 1085 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7158 Thank you @. Tried to play with the facade models but the exact colour is not matching up. 2 3259 |
