Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 07, 2011 9:45 pm We are currently renovating / extending our weatherboard cottage and will be recladding in Linea Board and roofing in Colorbond. We originally wanted a soft grey / white trim scheme with surfmist/shale grey roof but realised the wouldn't work as we have quite an angled roof that is very visible from the road as the house is single storey at the front and set back on a sloping block, so a huge light roof would be centre stage. We also have lots of overhead trees so we thought the lighter shades like shale grey and surfmist would get too dirty too quickly. Now I'm regretting it as I feel Windspray might look too blue against the soft greys I love.... We love a beach shack, fresh, homely look and want our beautiful hardwood deck to 'pop' against the house colours. My picks...but will they work with windspray? Which do you think? Externals Roof - Windspray Gutters – Windspray Eaves - White Fascia - Vivid White Weatherboards - Dulux Limed white OR Taubmans Grey Comfort OR Resene Tea OR Dulux Candle Bark Brick Render - (below weatherboard) Depending on the weatherboard colour picked, something darker but in same colour range Garage Posts - n/a Garage Doors - n/a Balustrade Pales – vivid white Balustrade Top Hand Rail – vivid white Steps - spotted gum Deck - spotted gum Window Trim (beautiful wide timber frames) - vivid white Front Door - timber, stained to match decking - 8 panel glass Thank you so much! Re: Exterior Colours with Windspray roof .Help! 2Sep 08, 2011 7:24 am Is it possible that you could post a photo of the front of your house? It would help a lot. You can follow the instructions in the link below on “how to post photos.” viewtopic.php?f=13&t=1272 Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: Exterior Colours with Windspray roof .Help! 3Sep 08, 2011 11:26 am Hi Michelle. thanks so much! *******We've just been told we can change our roof, but only today!!!!!!! So we could have surfmist, windspray or shale grey.****** Please excuse the mess at the front of our house, we have our laundry on our front deck! It will be changing so much (roofline will include a dutch gable, cladding will be linea board, deck will lose the wire railing and have white painted vertical slat timber balaustrade/white handrail, windows will be framed with thick timber frames painted white). I have also attached our elevations. Our block is a corner block with a picket fence and we are set down off the road a bit. It is a lovely tree lined street in a coastal town. I'd like white trims which doesn't have to be Vivid White - we haven't painted anything yet. I do love greys, limed whites with white trim and a lightish roof. Or would surmist work with a deeper grey? http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/5799/elevations1.jpg http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/6924/photodhl.jpg http://img109.imageshack.us/img109/3269/photobgc.jpg Thankyou Re: Exterior Colours with Windspray roof .Help! 4Sep 08, 2011 12:10 pm I think a Windspray or Ironstone roof would look very pretty with white walls, and a dark grey trim (just choose a grey with a bluey undertone, rather than a green). Bushland is another option; it has less blue in it than Windspray? Surfmist looks good with lots of shades of grey - I did a 'beach house' display home with a Surfmist roof and walls with Monument gutters and posts (it was a contemporary skillion roof home though). It looks gorgeous with the deep teal-blue I used as a feature wall in the garden/verandah area.
