Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Sep 03, 2011 10:02 pm I want to "perfume" my whole home but don't want to use the supermarket 'toilet' stuff, as they all seem to be flower scents and horrible & last 2 minutes. I saw on TV long time agoa fragrances used by shops hotels etc. I want something long lasting but not overpowering. Just something that when you open the door it smells welcoming. Can anyone suggest where & what to buy? Re: Room Fragrance 2Sep 04, 2011 1:10 am I personally use Partylite's reed diffusers. They don't contain alcohol so they don't evaporate away like the ones from the shops do. You can control the amount of fragrance depending on how many reeds you put in it, mine usually last 9-12 months for each diffuser. Re: Room Fragrance 3Sep 04, 2011 8:30 am I was at DFO the other day and looked in the Royal Doulton store, they had the reed diffusers and one of the flavours was so subtle but beautiful, and reminded me of many stores that I have been in to. I've also come across Yankee candle company candles, the drawback of these is they cost a bomb! But their smells are awesome My building thread : viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36059 Paid initial deposit 24/7/10 Tender appointment 20/8/2010 Flooring and tile appointment 25/9/10 Colour and Electrical appointment 13/9/10 December site start delayed Site start (YAY!) 17/1/11 Slab pour 1/2/2011 Re: Room Fragrance 4Sep 05, 2011 6:56 am I use Impulse……. as a room and furniture spray. My mum uses one of those automatic spray things, I do notice the scent when I walk into her house but I don't like the idea of chemical being sprayed into the air on a constant basis. Have had a few from Dusk in the past but am looking for something different. I'd like to try the Partylite diffusers. They are a party plan company (like Tupperware, but with candles/melts/diffusers/holders instead). Have a look at http://www.partylite.com.au and from there you can find a consultant in your area. Otherwise you can also find a lot of their products on ebay, but you would need to guess which smell you like. I'm actually not a fan of Dusk - I used to be, but then I was introduced to Partylite, and IMO Partylite makes Dusk look and smell like the $2 Shop. Everyone I have introduced to Partylite is now completely hooked, I should ask for commissions (Just a heads up, they are pretty pricey, but the level of quality and the length of time all of their products last means that they are actually good value for money). Re: Room Fragrance 9Sep 12, 2011 8:05 pm Thanks CA3105, I've made contact with my local consultant. Look forward to trying out their diffusers. Re: Room Fragrance 10Sep 15, 2011 3:46 pm Was just reminded about this thread while making coffee and enjoying the beautiful perfume of a small Dendrobium orchid I moved to the kitchen bench yesterday. It's small and only has 5 creamy white blooms on a single spike and the perfume is so delicate and beautiful, not overpowering at all....perfect for day long use inside the house. When the orchids aren't blooming they are outside in the shadehouse and only get moved inside when in bloom. When there are several blooming at once they are rotated between the dining table, kitchen and alfresco. Of course, not all orchids are perfumed but Dendrobium Kingianum is one of my favourites. The white, third from LHS on page one of these photos is the same as on the kitchen bench atm. http://tinyurl.com/3ar6ncq A natural perfume, imho, is much nicer than all the mad-made reproductions and as an added bonus you have some lovely flowers too! Re: Room Fragrance 11Mar 11, 2012 5:49 pm I found reed diffusers (Abode Aroma) at a South Morang (Melbourne) shop called "Store - The Storage Superstore". Price range from $30 to $40. I don't know how competitive these prices are, as I've never seen them being sold in stores, except today, so I bought four of them. Bought at a local shop $50 each - when I ordered them online they were $33 each. Also my hubby bought one of those things (battery operated) you put a can of fragrance in it and it squirts out some every 10 mins or so. It sits on the shelf above my fridge next to my cookbooks and works beautifully Re: Room Fragrance 14Mar 16, 2012 2:51 pm We have reed diffusers as well - they are great, they might seem expensive to buy but they last such a long time and do a great job. I think you have to be careful of the fragrances you plug into a powerpoint as I remember reading some time ago that a house burnt down because of it ..... Some great ideas here ... Re: Room Fragrance 15Mar 17, 2012 2:25 pm I love vanilla....and I use Mclintock's vanilla fridge wipe. I spray it on benchtops and other surfaces and wipe over with a clean cloth and the whole house smells divine. Cheap, not overpowering and definitely not stinky-artificial. Best of all, it's food-grade so it's ideal to use on kitchen benches or anywhere else around food. Apparently it's had a name change recently: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Re: Room Fragrance 16Jun 01, 2012 12:17 am Yes, the fridge wipe is my secret too... Smells like you've been baking at times, and cleans as well as being safe to use. I am prone to hay fever and the humble fridge wipe doesn't set me off. And it's nothing like the horrible vanilla body sprays which DO make me sneeze and give me a disgusting headache like my brain is being drilled with hot needles. Room Fragrance 17Jun 01, 2012 1:28 am I'm still a diehard Dusk user. If I wasn't using Dusk candles, I'd probably have to upgrade and start buying those "boutique" $50+ candles that they advertise in Marie Claire, etc. I find that if I leave Dusk alone for around 6 months at a time, they do bring in new scents and new ranges of products. I bought a "Bondi" candle recently. My room smells beautifully vanillary, with a "hint" of sand hehe. Re: Room Fragrance 18Jun 15, 2012 3:31 pm Sadly, most dusk candles are far too highly scented for me. I just sneeze and sneeze and end up with sinus. I can't even walk past the stores without some sort of reaction....Anything with a very strong scent makes me react!!! Let alone incense- yukkkkkk! Re: Room Fragrance 19Jun 22, 2012 6:55 pm I recently saw one from abode aroma in Minkz which looked like a genies bottle and it had wisps of scented smoke puffing out the top it was gorgeous and looked funky too...you put essential oils in it and plug it in...you can view on this link i just found http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b6azikfQG3s Slab Poured 30/05/12 Lower Floor Plate High 20/08/12 Upper Floor & Wall Framing 30/08/12 Roof 14/09/12 Lock-Up 13/12/12 Yee haaaaa WE ARE IN & I HAVE A NEW IPHONE Re: Room Fragrance 20Jun 22, 2012 7:42 pm Treeseachanger Sadly, most dusk candles are far too highly scented for me.
