In an area like a family room, which could see a bit of rough and tumble, will the low VOC be as cleanable and resilient? Re: Durability low VOC paints 2Sep 01, 2011 7:35 pm Good question, maybe the painter can answer this for you when he comes back in. I haven't used them as yet. I haven't used them as yet. Cant comment on them as I have never used them....as I understand paints that are Low VOC or LOC free are not as washable or durable...but the pros for these paints are less smell...which I personally cant notice with acrylic paint and possible health benefits Re: Durability low VOC paints 6Sep 03, 2011 12:52 pm I work with a builder that now only uses Dulux Low VOC paint. It has been in their display home for the last eight months and so far I haven't seen any problems (although a display home obviously doesn't receive anywhere near the wear and tear of a family home). Low VOC paints are a nice option in a room used by children due to to the health benefits. They recommend not using a room for at least five days after painting to prevent you breathing in the VOCs. I often suggest using a low sheen or semi-gloss in rooms that receive a lot of wear because they are easier to clean and more durable (and the slight gloss you get isn't that noticeable, especially in new homes). Re: Durability low VOC paints 7Sep 03, 2011 6:16 pm I thought Dulux 101 has been low-VOC for a few years, I'm sure it was last time we used it, and to be fair I don't know because I haven't used it but maybe Taubmans is as well now? Reducing exposures to VOC's in paints and other products is seen as an important goal overseas nowdays. I've even seen no-VOC paints on overseas websites and I'm talking about their mainstream brands not just small niche-market brands. Its the way paints are going. I reckon the quality of the brand and the gloss level like EthosDesign said are going to be the things to look at. The yellowing mainly occurs to white or very light colours. 1 2917 4 6168 If you can calculate the reasonable charged head from let's say 100mm below the gutter to the top of where the vertical riser's horizontal discharge pipe will be, that… 11 17513 |
