Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 21, 2011 11:57 pm Hello, We've had our colour selections, but not yet signed contract so we have a small window to change. I'm putting together a colour selection post for our blog which has me second guessing everything. Externally, we have selected the following: Brick - Daniel Robertson Hawthorn Tan - flush off white mortar (thanks stormy!) Roof - Charcoal Bristille Shingle Eaves - Lexicon quarter (we weren't asked about this - it just matches our interior trims, but we could change) Gutters, fascia, downpipes - Monument Windows - A&L Dune Render - Ceylonese (in the showroom it seemed to pick up the purply highlights to the brick, but not sure now as it just looks kind of tan) Garage door - colorbond coaba timberlook Front door - Merbau stain Not sure on the windows - we wanted something to work inside and out. While Jasper would blend in internally, i wasn't sure about darker windows on the interior with whitish trims & buff it half walls. I am also concerned its a bit of a hodge podge - brownish/red/purplish bricks, off white mortar, light & dark greys in the colorbond, grey/black roof plus the ceylonese. Any thoughts and suggestions much appreciated. ------ Knocking down to build the Henley Emperor Q2 in Cheltenham, Vic http:\\ourcheltenhamemperor.net\ Re: Dune windows & facade selections- will it work?? Show me 3Aug 28, 2011 10:04 pm Hi Michelle, Thanks for your reply. To say we don't have a decorating bone in either of our bodies would be an understatement so this stage of the build is a challenge. Your point has entered my mind, although only recently! The main living area will have timber windows so is exempt from discussion (and unlikely to have window treatements initially being south facing onto a private back yard). We will have a formal lounge at the front for which the north facing windows are a big deal. As far as window dressings, budget is a consideration, but blinds are probably the least likely option, so as you mention, the window frames themselves will likely be hidden for the most part. They will, however, feature in the kitchen and pantry where we've got windows over the benchtop below the overhead cupboards. So, to revise the initial question - do you (or anyone else reading) feel that "Dune" windows will work with the external colour scheme? Also, can anyone comment on whether Dune has some "beige" qualities to it in real life. It appears so, when held against our various colour selections, but I'm hesistant. Our external colours are here: http://ourcheltenhamemperor.net/2011/08 ... selection/ Internal here: http://ourcheltenhamemperor.net/2011/08 ... r-kitchen/ As always, any suggestions for the design challenged much appreciated! ------ Knocking down to build the Henley Emperor Q2 in Cheltenham, Vic http:\\ourcheltenhamemperor.net\ Re: Dune windows & facade selections- will it work?? Show me 4Sep 01, 2011 6:31 pm I think Dune will work with your exterior colours. Or you could try Jasper to work in with bricks and feature colour. I found Dune as a paint very grey, but as a metal as nice stone colour. Show me 5Sep 03, 2011 12:02 pm If you are having white trim around the windows I'd probably suggest white aluminium or a dark neutral from the interior point of view. If you're worried about having too many colours why not change your gutter/fascia to a Colorbond colour like Woodland Grey, and do the window frames in the same colour? Woodland grey is a fairly good warm neutral that should work fairly well with your wall colour. How much are you ahead in payments compared to where the build is at?
