Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 01, 2011 10:01 pm Hi,
Hopefully this is the correct section. I've done some modelling of my house in google sketchup to attempt to better visualize the colours. However I'm still confused. The garage door is colorbond "Dune", I know the panel doors don't come in colorbond colours but it should be similar. Note: google sketchup colours don't seem to come out right There is a coloured concrete section above the main part of the house (currently) a plain white, and colorbond guttering / downpipes. There is also coloured concrete above all windows around various parts of the house. I'm open to suggestions on all the colours excluding the bricks, and I'm unsure what the selected stack stone colours are so far. I have Bristile roofing tiles with a choice of the traditional, designer or heritage range. I currently like the "Sanctuary" in the traditional range. I prefer the lighter colours but I don't know if any would actually work with dark bricks.... So far: Bricks: Austral Hawksburn Windows (Ecoclassic awning windows): White/cream? Or silver? Open to suggestion Guttering: Dune ? Garage Door: Dune ? Above windows: Same colour as windows ? Or lighter? Front door: Same as garage door? Dune? Any help appreciated Thanks Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 2Aug 03, 2011 7:27 pm Can you post the front façade up on the page so it can be seen without going to the link? Done. Flickr is great, except not very forum friendly, I cannot link directly to images. They are on tinypic.com for now until I find something better Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 4Aug 04, 2011 7:39 am Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 5Aug 04, 2011 7:30 pm Brick Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Dune Bricks: Austral Hawksburn Windows (Ecoclassic awning windows): White Guttering: Dune Garage Door: Dune Above windows: Same colour as windows ? Thanks very much Michelle. There is a painted cement sheet infill above the stacked stone before the roof on the front of the house (south view) There is also a cement sheet infill above all the windows and the sliding door on the East side from the plans.I have made a small error, there is no infill above the windows on the front facade Here are some pictures from the plans, maybe it will make more sense than my drawings... IF they are just plain base sheets and nothing exciting to look at, they need to be a colour that will blend into the bricks. Not Dune, you need to go darker. Get a brick and do a colour match with some paints. I'm not very good at colour planning, sorry about all the questions. Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 9Aug 05, 2011 7:11 pm Check out this link….includes pics for you to look at, I would lean towards a light grey stack stone to make a feature of it so it’s a contrast against your bricks. Bottom row of pic in the centre you will see a portico with the light stack stone. http://www.decorstone.com.au/ss-imagegallery.htm Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 10Aug 05, 2011 8:40 pm That does contrast very well with the bricks I notice they have a dark wood decking above the middle where I will have a concrete sheet. I'll have to find a dark colour to make the stack stone stand out more than the top, but one that does not clash with the grey/silver coloured roof Any suggestions welcome Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 11Aug 06, 2011 9:30 pm For now I've made it a very light "ivory" white in google sketchup. The darker colours seem to blend in more than I expected, although I don't think I've found the right colour for the front. I've made the infills around the windows a dark brown for now Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 12Aug 12, 2011 9:32 pm I'm currently inquiring about getting a colorbond roof and I think I like the option of this I've changed my model to have a "windspray" colorbond roof, I think it looks ok but opinions welcome. I’d like to try it myself. I would have preferred a comment on the colours lol http://sketchup.google.com/ I'm using the free version, many of the objects I have in the house including the windows, doors, garage door. Sketchup is a little tricky to learn as you have to draw in 3D there are tutorials here: http://sketchup.google.com/intl/en/training/ I used the video tutorials to learn the basic concepts. Finally the 3Dwarehouse is where you find 3D objects that people have shared http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ Finally, I find the colours in general do not come out as I expect, unless I use a texture with them. For example the colorbond roof came from: http://www.steelselect.com/ Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 15Aug 15, 2011 7:20 pm theanonyuser I'm currently inquiring about getting a colorbond roof and I think I like the option of this I've changed my model to have a "windspray" colorbond roof, I think it looks ok but opinions welcome. I like the Windspray sketch better and also the creamier colour you used on the Portico. I would say that Sketchup is friendly for a 3D drawing program, compared to say....a CAD design program. However, its not that easy to sketch something in 3D until you grasp all the concepts around sketchup. I spent a lot of time on my model. Programs like SweetHome3D are better for getting an idea of floor layout, and someone mentioned a few other applications that can give you an idea of how the house might look with certain colours without the learning curve. Sketchup however is extremely flexible. Re: External colours to go with Austral Hawksburn (dark brow 17Oct 01, 2011 8:10 pm Here is a new sketch from the builder, I haven't tried the software he mentioned but it looks good. Here are some pictures we took (using an iPhone) of Hawksburn bricks from a house up the road being built. The mortar is off white ironed. We are going to use them too. I think they are lovely. We are using them with Time Capsule render, monument facia and guttering, and Monier Soho Night roof tiles (very dark grey).
