Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Aug 01, 2011 1:36 pm Help! I need some advice on colour choices for our older 60's home. We are rendering the house and also replacing all of the windows with new aluminium windows. The existing tiled roof is black and the gutters/fascia and garage door are all classic cream but these can be changed. The window style we are getting for the front 2 windows is a much more modern style with a large picture windowtaking up 2/3rds of the window and then the remaining 1/3 being split into 3 seperate awning openings. Now the colours we have been thinking are: Render: Linseed or Dune (but think Dune may be too light) Windows: Woodland Grey. We want a contrast between the render and windows to give a bit of punch as it is a pretty boring looking house. We did see a dulux colour consultant and she suggested Self Destruc as the render and White Birch powdercoat colour for the windows but think this is a bit yellow and I'm sick of creamy colours. Any suggestions would be great. We have changed our minds re the window colour from Woodland Grey to Surfmist to White Birch and now back to Woodland Grey and we have to select this colour asap and we can't pick a render colour until we have locked in a window colour. I currently have about 8 sample pots and am totally confused. Our neighbour directly over the road just rendered their house with colourbond Stone and white windows so we want to stay different to that. Thanks in advance. Re: Exterior Colour choices for render and windows 4Aug 01, 2011 4:01 pm dont forget that you dont have to use a coloured render. they can render and someone else can paint. works out roughly the same as natural render is a lot cheaper https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=37134 THE THREAD https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=35962 THE BLOG! http://pedrosinspiredbeauty.blogspot.com/ BRICKS BRICKS ARE FINISHED... Re: Exterior Colour choices for render and windows 5Sep 01, 2011 5:46 pm Hi Cathmike1 you sound like you have already done to your 60's house what we are in the middle of doing to our 60's house! Just wondering what colours you ended up going for and if you had any pictures!? We are thinknig of a Dune render and the rest is all unknown! Re: Exterior Colour choices for render and windows 6Sep 01, 2011 8:40 pm my suggestion would be to keep the windows as neutral as possible as they wont date as much and will generally go with anything over time and basically compliment most colours....colour trends tend to change frequently over the yearsand it looks far better painting walls than the aluminium windows. 1.
