Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 29, 2011 11:43 pm Hi Guys! I am driving myself insane trying to plan the interior of our new house. I had originally envisaged a luxe, modern parisian theme (yeah I have no idea how to explain that) The walls are painted in a latte type colour, the trims and doors white. The kitchen, dining and family room are all one area see plan below Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our family room window has been changed to a bifolold, the dining sliding door to timber french doors, They will be stained in a chocolate stain. A void has been put in the wall between the family and rumpus that will have a white shutter in it. The kitchen is all white (an exact copy of below) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ OK SO we bought the below sofas (one two seat, one three) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Our dining table is all chocolate pictured below Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I have a modern silver and crystal chandelier for over the dining table, and want a rectangle frameless mirror for the dining wall. Here is the pictures of our actual house in its current state Looking from rumpus through to kitchen (pictured void will be covered in white shutters) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ From kitchen through to family room (looking at mentioned void) Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I really wanted to introduce a duck egg blue, which would make the colours chocolate, white, latte and blue! how do I do that with the furnishing I already have? Im worried the white of the kitchen is too stark so how do I introduce more white throughout? I was thinking of having the two sofas facing each other with a rectangle ottoman in the centre? What colour ottoman? What colour cushions? I originally wanted wallpaper somewhere? Are there too many colours going on? Blind coverings?? I have totally lost track (and I'm this confused AFTER having previously consulted an interior decorator) OMG!!!! She's backkkkk... Re: Sharee's gone picture crazy! Someone help please!!? 2Jul 30, 2011 9:57 am Have you had a look at Stormy's house, Sharee? She has a pretty blue as an accent amongst neutrals...and white shutters to boot. I'm useless at this stuff (employed a pro myself ), but for what it's worth, here's my two cents' worth: I think your white shutters, along with the white skirts and architraves will set off the kitchen beautifully. You could perhaps add a couple of white lamps (maybe with mirrored, silver or crystal bases to tie in the chandelier) or other decorative accessories in white. And maybe the blue in some cushions and/or a throw and perhaps an artwork? A couple of decorative accessories in the kitchen in chocolate and/or blue would be pretty too. The chocolate dining suite and chocolate stained windows/doors will add a richness to the scheme. What about a choc leather ottoman to pick up that colour for the family room? I have chocolate "leather" cushions from Lincraft on my couch - a couple of those might work. I'd keep the blinds very plain...probably white. And did you want to add a rug to the family room floor? That could be another option to add one of your accent colours. BTW, luxe modern Parisian sounds GORGEOUS. Re: Sharee's gone picture crazy! Someone help please!!? 3Jul 30, 2011 10:15 am WOW Sharee I actually swore with delight when I saw your kitchen and love the lounge What kek said sounds really spot on to me. Are your dining chairs chocolate too? You could put a white and DEblue something on the table. What colour exactly are the sofas in the flesh? They look blueish/silver from here. I like the idea of white lamps, this one is called 'PARIS' how appropriate, I actually have the pendant in it with all my other modern stuff and love it. Someone help please!!? 7Jul 30, 2011 6:27 pm Wow Sharee, I didn't realise your house was so far along! I love that design... the kitchen is. Kek's suggestions are gorgeous, as already said, I'd probably just introduce the blue with accessories. A vase here and there, cushions, a throw, kitchen accessories, etc. Just wanted to add, I love the couch! That will never go out of style, gorgeous! I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Terrence Malick Re: Sharee's gone picture crazy! I had an idea! How about a print of a classic painting, like Monet's Waterlilies, in a modern frame (white or chocolate with a duck-egg blue matte). Find a high-res version online, and use Photoshop or any other image editing software to tweak the colours a little, to make them more pastel-y and just the right tones to suit your decor (Monet wouldn't mind, I'm sure ). Then get it printed at any old printer. It wouldn't cost much. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Very French, very pretty, and in the right frame, perfect for a modern room. Otherwise, you could go for something modern, maybe like this: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ It's a bit aqua, but I'm sure there's something perfect out there. Re: Sharee's gone picture crazy! Someone help please!!? 12Jul 31, 2011 12:38 pm You haven't scared me off Suh - DD is taking all of my homeone time up!! (that's why I have been so slack with the posts Joles and why you probably thought they were still framing my house! ) I love you ladies - those inspiration pictures were just what I was thinking! You are most welcome to pop over and do the decorating whenever you like! I have bought some big white frames that I was thinking I would put a blue mat in and maybe some black and white pictures of my babies in Kek I also have a shag rug in a beige I could use in the lounge but maybe a new one might be better? I spend lots of time drooling over Stormys place and it has actually got me thinking perhaps I should get a new dining table (or maybe just chairs?) in a lighter colour so this place doesn't become the boring brown the old one was? She's backkkkk... Re: Sharee's gone picture crazy! Someone help please!!? 15Jul 31, 2011 1:52 pm Funny, I was going to suggest B&W photos in white frames with D.E. blue mattes. Slipped my mind. I don't think the room will be brown and boring. You have all the white in the kitchen, and the couches are a light colour. With the chocolate stain, I think you need some dark brown somewhere, so the dining suite and one or two other touches would be perfect amongst all the lightness. Wait till you get it set up and see how the dining suite looks. If you hate it, you can always trade it for something new then. You can always add a table runner or some sort of centrepiece in a light colour to tone down the darkness. Maybe a gorgeous duck egg blue bowl.... Re: Sharee's gone picture crazy! Someone help please!!? 17Aug 20, 2011 8:43 am ED, it's a UK brand - Thomas Kent Clocks. Not sure if they're available here, but you should be able to get one on ebay from an international seller: http://shop.ebay.com.au/?_from=R40&_trksid=p3907.m570.l1313&_nkw=thomas+kent+clock&_sacat=See-All-Categories Re: Sharee's gone picture crazy! Someone help please!!? 18Aug 20, 2011 9:34 am Ah Sharee, you should have planned all this for me!! If your kitchen is going to be exactly all-white like that 1st pic, then you can't go wrong with the rest of it (me thinks ). ALL other stuff will add up just beautifully. Your selections are gorgeous and the soft light blue in accent items is all you need (love the clock and those 2 small oil paintings, the Paris lamp, etc. etc.). I can see that this will be one of my absolute favourite decors!!! Plus, if you get tired of the look, just by replacing the small (blue) items with some other colour, you get an instant renovation without really doing much (other than what we love best - shopping ).
