Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 28, 2011 4:12 pm Hello all! Old member here although haven't been posting for some time. Have been feverishly trawling through posts, looking for any ideas and just stumped. We have painted our house internally, with Olivine (using Taubmans paint, but Dulux colour) we are very happy with the colour, LOVE it. Now I have : Ensuite : white tiles, with black floor tiles - looking for 'warm grey' Main bathroom : a mocha/chocolate colour floor tile, with white wall tiles - would like something that brings colour, but not that it encloses the room IYKWIM? Possibly a coffee colour? Laundry and toilet : as per main bathroom. Kids bedrooms : they each want a colour, son would like blue, daughter would like purple and other daughter pink. Looking for soft, hints of colour. Don't want the rooms to be overwhelming when you walk in, not after a bright look. Just warm and inviting and 'doable' for the kids. Master bedroom : no idea...something 'grown up' but compliments the ensuite (which is open)... I have just uploaded some old photos onto the first page of my blog : http://ourhouseinperth.blogspot.com/2011/07/adding-old-photos-due-to-choosing-paint.html if anyone wants to have a look. We are yet to carpet, but looking at a dark carpet, somewhere along the lines of a dark brown/grey (like what is in showhomes) Our flooring throughout house is timber laminate, avignon oak. I have to go and get the kids from school now, but will be back later. I would like to say a HUGE thanks in advance for any replies I may get in my absence House has been complete since Feb 2010 Moved in April 2010 Outside completed August 2010 Currently working on the inside, painting, blinds, furniture http://ourhouseinperth.blogspot.com/ Re: In a tizzy of sorts....HELP, paint colours egads! 2Jul 29, 2011 11:23 pm Hi Blue - would love to be of more help but I am useless at choosing colours. I had this piece of blue material that I absolutely loved and took it to Bunnings to be colour matched recently and it turned out brilliantly! Maybe thats an option for some of the kids room - have them chose a a toy or dress that they love the colour of (and that you can stand) and have them matched. She's backkkkk... Good Luck Re: In a tizzy of sorts....HELP, paint colours egads! 4Jul 30, 2011 10:11 pm Hi sanjam - we used Olivine in full strength and yes Bristol colour (will edit above post, it's not dulux) It truly is a lovely colour and actually throughout the day and night it changes tone. At night it looks quite green, during the morning more the brownish/beige tones, middle of the day more 'bright' hard to explain...LOL But we LOVE it! Sharee - thanks for your suggestions well I have the pink for my youngest daughters room Bunny Pink by Dulux (I think Dulux) but is too strong, so when I buy a large tin will get 1/2 tint, also for my sons room found Grande Hall, again perfect tone and will most likely get half tint. Although he was hoping for darker blue, but I am worried about dark blue in a small room... Found Snowdonia 3/4 for our ensuite, which I LOVE and hoping hubby will love it too when he gets home. Found Torte for the main bathroom and actually liking it, I don't think we'll find the 'perfect' colour for the bathroom/laundry, but this is quite good. I think I am getting there slowly. Such a large task actually picking out colours isn't it? We have a 5 year plan with this house, 4 to go. So wanting to 'personalise' it, as it's our first home, but not wanting to do it too much that we have to re-do it when we eventually want to sell. I actually went and looked at a house that went to auction today and got some great ideas from that. Great use of colour and lighting.
