Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 16, 2011 12:18 am I'm tired of looking at a colour I didn't order. It's time to repaint. The whole house. I got a quote today from the Grey Army. My house is around 40-42sq - 5 bedrooms, office, rumpus, lounge, dining, kitchen, eat-in area in kitchen, upstairs lounge, only 3 of the toilet areas need to be painted. This is just walls only. The quote they gave me was $4200. Does this sound reasonable? I'm getting another quote tomorrow, but just curious price-wise. Judie Re: Cost to paint a house? 3Jul 16, 2011 4:36 pm Sounds ok to me also, what have you asked them to do? 2 coats on walls and enamel on timber work, semi gloss in wet areas? Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Cost to paint a house? 6Jul 16, 2011 10:35 pm actually that sounds too cheap in order to do a proper job, especially in an existing house that would need a lot more prep work. Make sure you know what they are going to do. 4200 is defiantly way to cheap. Re: Cost to paint a house? 7Jul 17, 2011 2:17 am The house is less than 2 years old, so the woodwork and the ceilings don't need doing. The kitchen only has paint on the bulkheads, and the bathrooms are tiled to the ceiling. Second quote is for $5,500. Same work. I may have to end up doing it myself. Sigh. Or I can pay Erin to come up and do it for me since she is the painting goddess?! Judie there is a few calculators you can use if you just google it 7 7524 Thankyou so much 😀 I've decided on White on white for doors and trims, White on white 50% on ceiling and Mt buller for walls. Fingers crossed it will look OK 😀 2 7140 Thank you. That is really helpful. Once we get the place done and passed for OC we can upgrade in the future once we get back on our feet and not paying mortgage and rent. 4 5712 |
