A 2 colour palette just isn't enough for me. At the other extreme is pic 2. Too much colour, too much action on the walls. (Pic 3) I've never seen a dining chair set in different colours before.
Re: Colour is making a come back 3Jul 13, 2011 8:05 pm I think the colours are gorgeous. Nothing misssing from my point of view. I probably wouldn't have the courage to do this though and I would never convince DH to go this way. So it's 'relocation beige' for us:) Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Colour is making a come back 5Jul 13, 2011 8:16 pm Thanx Dollar, I'd have to get a new hubby and that's too much work just to have a more colourful house. I've been adventurous with soft furnishings. Handover February 2011 Happy with our home Re: Colour is making a come back 6Jul 13, 2011 8:19 pm Soft furnishings can do just the trick Robinred. Re: Colour is making a come back 8Jul 14, 2011 6:28 am Not everyone will like the colours in the photos; personally I couldn’t live with any of them! But the point is, colour is coming back, I don’t care which colour as long as we finally have colour back on our walls……….. Like you Michelle, I like a bit of colour. With a splashback you just have to make sure it is a colour you wont get tired of. I'm really happy with ours. http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af187/Kaytee50/Williams%20Landing/IMG_8943.jpg http://i1006.photobucket.com/albums/af187/Kaytee50/Williams%20Landing/IMG_8941.jpg A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. I'm running out of walls in our house to apply colour to My last project, one of our spare rooms last weekend... it was cold and bland to begin with. The room faces south, so doesn't get a huge amount of light and warmth. I wanted a colour which made it feel inviting and cosy. Pretty happy with it... just need to decide on window and floor coverings http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac165/aaron4erin/DSC_0594upload.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac165/aaron4erin/DSC_0593upload.jpg Looking at a sea grass floor covering... something like these... http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac165/aaron4erin/OrientalDeluxeBrown-480x346.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac165/aaron4erin/AmalfiNocciola-480x346.jpg http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac165/aaron4erin/Adagio-480x346.jpg Re: Colour is making a come back 12Jul 14, 2011 11:50 am Erin I think I like the 1st carpet the best. What is your pick at the moment or can't you decide? Re: Colour is making a come back 13Jul 14, 2011 12:09 pm Dollar Erin I think I like the 1st carpet the best. What is your pick at the moment or can't you decide? I have some samples coming in the mail to me, so once I have them in person I'll have a better idea. I'll put pics up too Re: Colour is making a come back 14Jul 14, 2011 1:50 pm ^^ Erin, I found that a dark colour works well with a clean green (ala my ex green wall)-it seems to ground it IMO, so I'd think that the first one would suit both.....providing the sample shows that of course! I do love dark timbers and dark natural colours, but we already have light coloured timber in that room, so I didn't think a dark floor would work too well http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/ac165/aaron4erin/DSC_0561upload.jpg Re: Colour is making a come back 16Jul 14, 2011 2:00 pm Hmmm.....see what you mean-midbrown could be better! Thought about how you are going to get under the matting clean? Looks great though I have to say. You are doing a fantastic job Erin….love your style and design! I'm with Michelle. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, either. Mum and Dad HAD it in their place in Flinders when they bought it. Couldn't get rid of it sooner! It was terribly uncomfortable to walk on in bare feet ...and there would be bare feet in a bedroom. It was impossible to get clean too. I know you don't have kids, but it was disasterous on their poor knees when they were crawling. I don't know how they install it these days, but Mum and Dad's was stuck directly to their floorboards (house on stumps) and it was a huge effort to remove it to replace with (lovely soft) carpet! Any food was instantly stuck within the fibres and really difficult to get rid of, as nothing 'moved' to be able to get it out. Fibres of carpet move...this stuff doesn't (or didn't). Also, if it got wet it would smell! Just thought I'd let you know of my experience with it! Good to know some pro's and con's! Love what everyone has done with colour. I'm too scared to do anything like that! We did have bright yellow walls back in our first house in the 90's, but now I'm happy with beige and adding colours with soft furnishings and decor items. I haven't even done any feature walls...Hubby hates painting! I might be a bit boring with colour, but I'm enjoying my neutral palette with touches of colour Katee....I LOVE your butterflies on your splashback!!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!!
