Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jul 07, 2011 5:15 pm Hi I’m new to this forum and I’ve spent some time looking at past posts and learnt heaps. Thank you. I thought it was time to post my own questions. We are trying to decide on internal and external colours for our new house. External - It’s a stud wall house, with Hardy plank cladding (Linea – looks like traditional weatherboard for the front southern wall and Stria for the rest of the house – wide cladding board with a 15 mm horizontal joint). Roof , gutters and downpipes are dune and fascia deep ocean. Windows are Dowell Anotek Grey. We are looking for a light/neutral colour for the walls. We quite like the combination Warm neutral for the Linea, Hog Bristle for the Stria and Rameau for the double front door. Recommended by Dulux. We’d like to use Solver paint but my understanding is that they can copy any colour so suggestions can come from any paint brand. Have you used these colours before? Or can you recommend colours that would go well with dune and deep ocean? Internal - We are having charcoal matt tiles in the living/kitchen/laundry/office and wood looking lino in bedrooms. In the living room there is one wall made of dark red face bricks, with tinges of black/grey inside them. A real feature! Most of the northern wall is windows, letting the winter sun in. Our kitchen benchtop is laminex limestone and cupboards stipple seal. Window sills are made of Jarrah. We are looking for a warm neutral colour for throughout the house, not too creamy nor grey. Solver Old Ivory look quite nice. Also would you do walls/doors/trims the same colour? Someone suggested we should go for plain white for the ceiling, what do you think? Once we’ve picked the main colour, we may choose some feature wall colour for the 3 bedrooms. If you have any suggestions? We like blues/purples for the main bedroom, yellows for bed2 and any other suggestions for bed 3. We probably won’t be using any feature wall in main leaving area, leaving the face brick wall and charcoal tiles dominate. We’ll also need to add curtains to all rooms so I don’t want to include too many paint colours. Any suggestions/feedback are more than welcome as it is a difficult decision… I don’t want to have to repaint a wall because we don’t like it! Thank you.
