Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 28, 2011 3:25 pm Hi everyone, Well we have been back in our house for nearly 2 years after a reno/extension and we still do not have many photos on the walls. I want to do a photo wall with an existing phot and a set of frames I bought. I have made templates today and have been playing around with them bt can't seem to balance out the top right hand corner. Any ideas would be great. There's lots of options. What you've done looks great so far. Maybe move the ones on the right in a little, so the total line on the outside of all the frames is a nice neat square/rectangle Re: Help needed with phot wall 3Jun 28, 2011 8:34 pm Thanks for the reply. I did think about the small ones next to the larger one but I feel that I really need the extra width. I have been playing around with it all afternoon and just can't get it right, then Dh came home with his own ideas!! Re: Help needed with phot wall 4Jun 28, 2011 10:35 pm I'm wondering if you might put the huge frame in the middle with the 3 small ones above instead of below it, then play around with the other frames to the left and right of it. I feel the huge one really dominates so I'd be trying it in the middle to balance things. Could you discard a couple of the frames and try other sizes if need be? Then it might all fit together more easily. Have fun! Re: Help needed with phot wall 5Jun 29, 2011 7:53 am Hi Pauline, Thanksfor the reply. Apart from the big one (a framed wedding picture) the others all came in a set. I guess I am worried about other frames looking out of place if I get something else.I will play around with your idea todayand post some more pics. Andrea Re: Help needed with phot wall 6Jun 29, 2011 9:29 am Are you able to provide the dimensions of the frames, so we can have a play around with a format for you? I always find it easiest to start in the middle, so as Pauline suggested above... then work outwards Re: Help needed with phot wall 7Jun 29, 2011 9:41 am Can I ask (which might be a silly question!) is there any reason why the buffet isn't in the middle of the wall? There is more empty space on the left than the right..... I actually like the way you have them placed on the floor, but it depends whether you want it to look 'formal' or a bit more modern (like Erin's) with non even edges...if that makes sense! The way you have it on the floor, the whole of the outside of the combined frames is a rectangle, and I like that! It creates a picture of pictures, but I like things to be balanced and even (hence my question with the buffet!!) LOL!!! It would also match the shape of the buffet underneath...again, there's that balance thing! Forgive me, I'm Libran! I love the pink and the blue together too! Another way to make the Wedding photo not so dominant would be to remove the blue matt and just have white to match the other frames, but unsure if you can do this if it was professionally framed. I have a huge blank wall in my lounge I have planned for 2 years to have a B&W family photo wall....just have to find time to do it in amongst everything else! LOVE photo walls! Good luck!! EDIT: I see in the photo of frames on the floor, you have 8, but in the other photos of the templates you have 9. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! There are power points to the left that need to be moved. I keep meaning to try it with the buffet out from the wall, when we start furnishing the buffet I would like to puta lamp there so I couldn'treally sit it that far out from the wall. It will have to be moved! The photo of the 'frames' on the wall includes the whole set. When I layed it out on the floor I left out one of the 7x5. I don't mind leaving one out as I can hang it somewhere else or stand it on the buffet. I think I like the one with the real frames too, I hadn't really looked at that again, thanks for the reminder. We would definitely like to get the frame changed in our wedding pic, just nota priority $$$ wise. The picsin the frames won't stay there, they are all still wrapped in plastic. They will be replaced with family photos, just need to get the layout right before I choose which photos....which is why I like the second layout with the 3 6x4 under the wedding photo - we have 3 kids and was going to put a newborn pic of each of them in there. Thanks again and willcheck that link out Erin, thanks. Andrea Re: Help needed with phot wall 10Jun 29, 2011 4:04 pm You need a bigger frame in the centre to help balance it out other than that you have done a good job! Love that you have used templates to get your format on the wall! The set comes with 4 6x4, 2 5x7 and 2 8x10. The wedding picture is 23x27. Michelle - when you saw a bigger frame, do you mean bigger than the wedding one, or one of the bigger ones of the set? Thanks for all ideas so far, it is just what I need. Andrea Re: Help needed with phot wall 13Jul 01, 2011 6:31 pm ellyash Michelle - when you saw a bigger frame, do you mean bigger than the wedding one, or one of the bigger ones of the set? The 3rd from the right on the bottom should or could be the same size as the frame to the right of it.
