We're currently renting a dbl storey fibro job & my kids were suffering in their 2 bedrooms upstairs on saturday. Lord only knows what their rooms will be like in January. I rang and enrolled in the course this afternoon. They said my first set of learning materials should arrive by the end of the week. Shaje…that’s great!!! Congratulations…. Good luck with the course. Who did you go with? Design or decorating course? Better start planning now on how to keep them cool ! I’m already looking for ready made curtains to hang at all my front windows over the timber look blinds for added protection. The girl I got a quote from….shut shop , left us all hanging. So I’m going to do it myself now. I'm quite looking forward to it now that I've made the decision.
I went with Cenage. The course is titled Interior Design but to my (untrained) way of thinking it appears to cover a bit of design and decoaration, which would suit me just fine. The topics covered include: Introduction to interior design Elements of design Context of colour Selecting a style Lighting for illumination Colour- Parts 1 & 2 Furniture - Parts 1 & 2 Flooring Special treatments Walls & Windows The finishing touch If I enjoy it enough and it doesn't send me around the bend I may follow it up with other courses that tempted me. One of them had modules targeted specifically at kitchen design and bathroom design which I thought would prove useful. I will just need to go searching again as I thought I had added them to my favourites but apparently not! Re: MRS B…..QUESTION FOR YOU! 47Sep 16, 2008 11:57 am Shaje……the course I did was with The Australian School of Interior décor.
She has since sold to Cenage I have only recently worked that out while helping Mrs B choose one. My 1 course covered all the things you mentioned as well as kitchen design. I think it’s all structured differently now. Well done, I bet you can’t wait to start. Do you have children? NOW….shshshshshs, we don’t want Mrs B getting interested just yet! Good….no offence, but the modules can be very time consuming. Its good not to have other distractions! My daughter got told she had to leave me alone while I was mixing the gradients of colour!
Haa, very funny now, as I find colour the easiest thing to do after 13 years. Funny how it pans out. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: MRS B…..QUESTION FOR YOU! 52Sep 22, 2008 9:27 am I started reading the first section of the course during my commute to work this morning. I just wanted to mention to Mrs B and anyone else who may be interested in doing such a course that in the beginning of the first section of this Cenage Interior Design course they state it is geared to people interested in home decoration but may be a stepping stone into the professional field of interior decorating. I also note that you achieve a “Statement of Attainment”, that is, not a Certificate IV or Diploma, or the like. This is in no way intended to be a criticism of the course or to imply that they don’t tell you this information from the beginning. I am just mentioning it so anyone who is interested in pursuing interior design/decoration professionally is aware that if they begin with this course it may be necessary to continue with further study. From the few pages I have read so far it seems great for what I want to get out of it (which is to better understand design/decoration so that when planning our own home I am better prepared). Re: MRS B…..QUESTION FOR YOU! 53Sep 22, 2008 10:18 am Shaje…….well!
Thank’s so much for that info, so many things have changed, as I have a framed “Diploma” in my office! Having said that, in 13 years of business I have only had about 4 people ask me how qualified I was and what do I have to show for my education in decoration. This is something anyone thinking about doing a course must decide on, it’s tough, I can’t believe how expensive the courses are now. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com You can really use anything you want the main consideration would be how it looks once painted/finished - or the look you want. Cabinetmakers use MDF because its cheap… 2 9959 I would say both styles you have pictured are steel. The lower chord of the first pic would be a massive lump if made using timber considering the size of the rafters. If… 1 6151 1 13124 |
