Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 19, 2011 2:31 pm We live in a federation house with large living/family (modernised) extension. We're changing the blinds to cellular/honeycomb blinds as we want a 'cleaner' look than the dirty cream romans we have. We've already painted kids rooms in the ubiquitous antique white USA with 1/4 awusa trim, white ceilings, and new blinds in there are blackout cellulars in off-white, I kind of wish now I had gone white though as the headrail is a bit yellowish compared to the 1/4awusa! I was thinking when we paint the lounge room (currently in another 'off white' colour, slight green/grey tinge) that I might just do the trims all white... but not sure yet... So it makes it hard for the lounge as I'm doing blinds first! I have 5 windows plus a bifold to cover. I'm thinking we'll paint off-white walls eventually (maybe a bit darker than awusa), white trim... so should I go slightly off white blinds (which would then also blend with the bedrooms a bit, and match the walls), or just pure white to match trim.... Bit worried pure white with kids...but also worried offwhite headrail may look funny with white trim... Kresta has a colour called "snow white". Or does it not matter!!! Because they are likely to be up during the day (except in middle of summer arvo) anyway!!! Too many choices me thinks... (well, one kind of but it's our walk in robe and we like to have plenty of light in there so it will stay up! (hubby wants frosting but it might look kind of tacky). The good thing about the blinds is that the exterior of all is white, regardless of interior colour. Re: What colour cellular blinds? 4Jun 25, 2011 10:40 am The advantage of white and off-white internals is that the colour perceived by the eye can be manipulated by reflected light from other surfaces. Blinds are an excellent means of filtering incoming light with a colour caste that can help to unite different off-white surfaces. This cant be achieved with white blinds for obvious reasons. However if you were to use say cedar timber blinds, the warm light streaming into the room will reflect off all of the internals and help to unite each tint. This doesn't work so well at night time. A warm temperature light within the room could duplicate the effect at night. Windows are pathways to the soul of your home.
