I want to know what thoughts people have on reproductions of "designer" furniture. Whilst it'll be great to have a house full of designer items, real world dictates otherwise . Or even if money was not a problem, would the genuine pieces be worthwhile? I understand for some people, designer furniture are collectable pieces much like art and to them it might well be worth it's cost. Personally, I would think that I would have to settle for a few select pieces and the rest would be from mainstream stores or reproductions .
Even with reproductions, there's a great difference in costs, for example I was told that for a good copy of a Arco lamp with the correct Carrara marble base is for $3000, yet you can find some copies easily selling for under $500. I suspect that some of it comes back to the quality of the reproduction, but do some pay royalties to the original designer?
One piece of furniture I'm looking for is a Ditzel hanging chair, so if anyone knows of a place which sells them for a reasonable price, let me know
