Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 14, 2011 5:39 pm Hi everyone, 12 months after moving in to our new home, we have decided to repolace our old Freedom lounge (14 years old and still in shape). We are looking at a laether lounge and have narrowed it down to 3 Retailers: 1. Beyond Furniture 2. Natuzzi 3. Nick Scali Probably in order of preference as well. Question - has anyone had good, bad or indifferentr dealings with these retailers and any advice on quality of their leather lounge products? Look forward tyo some honest advice. Francesco. P.S We were looking at Demir until we read a lot of bad press on the Internet. Re: Leather Lounge - advice on retailers 2Jun 14, 2011 5:42 pm I'd say Natuzzi head and shoulders above the others as far as quality. More expensive but they are just gorgeous. We have a black leather Natuzzi lounge and I love it to bits. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself. Some only dye the top of it, and others dye the whole leather through. Leather dyed the whole way through will cost more, but well worth it as it means any scratches down the track won't show up as badly, and it will be a better quality lounge in general. Also the better quality lounges have a lot more leather in the construction of them, as some only have leather for the seating areas with vinyl on the other areas. Re: Leather Lounge - advice on retailers 4Jun 19, 2011 7:59 pm hi brought my leather lounge from nick scali at auburn 8 years ago, still looks like brand new......and sooo comfortable,... very happy with it, a lounge and two large chairs, not cheap about 10,000 dollars , but a great investment. Re: Leather Lounge - advice on retailers 5Jun 20, 2011 8:23 am Thanks for the comments so far. we have placed a Natuzzi Metrople LH + RH 2 seater plus 2 x armchairs on top of the list. They say it is 100% cow hide leather, dyed throughout and with the natural grain (not embossed). It is also a fully protected leatehr given we have 2 small children. Also stating it is all made in Italy - with a 5 month lead time. I couldn't see anything in writing stating the leatehr qulity or frame constrcution, but am assured it will be as stated. Almost at decisison point. Re: Leather Lounge - advice on retailers 6Jun 20, 2011 7:59 pm We bought a Natuzzi suite albeit fabric, it wasn't as good as what we expected for the price. What we werent told was not all of their styles come from Italy. If the style you want is Italian for sure perhaps it'll be alright but I'd get that in writing. Nick Scali was on one of those tv programs a few years ago for selling reconstituted leather as solid leather. I dunno about the other one on your list. Have you thought about getting your old one reupholstered? Re: Leather Lounge - advice on retailers 7Jun 20, 2011 10:00 pm What about King Furniture. Also, given how well your Freedom lounge is going, why not try Freedom? (I bought mine form IKEA and it's quite nice - and a lot cheaper than the other places!) Demolition August 2009, Construction Started September 2009, Completed December 2010 Re: Leather Lounge - advice on retailers 8Jun 20, 2011 10:52 pm we have lazboy recliners.... absolutely fabulous! Love LOVE LOVE them! http://www.lazboy.com.au/ I think they are having a sale on now.... worth a look! Re: Leather Lounge - advice on retailers 9Jun 21, 2011 8:48 am Hi - we looked at King - didn;t find anything we liked and slightly outside our budget. We looked at Freedom - there was only one lounge we liked, but I wasn't impressed with the quality - good prive though. IKEA have a few sofas but nothing big enough for us. Lazyboy - well it looks like they have some options on their website - but no dealers in Sydney - will make contact and get some prices to see if it's worth visiting the closetes dealer.
