Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jun 08, 2011 1:19 pm Hi Michelle I've been reading these forums keenly over the past few weeks. We are about to paint throughout our house and are struggling with colours for the walls, trim and plantation shutters. The things we have to work with are: * kitchen cupboards - similar to Dulux "Stowe White" with charcoal benchtops * floors - orange / brown stained timber flooring throughout the house * windows - primrose aluminium windows * house exterior colours - reddish bricks with cream trim (garage door / front door / eaves are all cream) We would like to paint one colour throughout the whole house in a pale neutral shade. The house is currently painted in something similar to Dulux "White Swan" but it's a little yellow for my liking. We would also like to put in plantation shutters in a colour that looks good with the interior paint but also looks good with our warmer coloured exterior and primrose windows when viewed from outside the house. Any suggestions as to colours for interior walls, trim and shutters would be greatly appreciated. thanks Alison Re: Help with wall, trim and shutter colours throughout hous 2Jun 08, 2011 6:56 pm Alison, what colours do the Shutters come in? They told me that people normally paint the shutters the same colour as the architrave? Which may or may not be the same colour as the wall? Perhaps having so much choice makes it harder Alison Re: Help with wall, trim and shutter colours throughout hous 4Jun 08, 2011 7:23 pm How about Dulux Limed White with all white trims and shutters? I love the look of white trim and shutters, but given that all the outside of the house is warmer tones, I think that vivid white shutters may look too stark. Probably something like Dulux "Natural White" or creamier would look softer from the outside as a shutter. If the walls, trim and shutters were painted "Stowe White", but in different gloss levels, do you think that would look ok? Or would it be too bland? Thanks again for your help.
