Browse Forums Interior Decorating Lounge 1 Jan 14, 2008 9:09 am Hello,
I am loving this forum, what a goldmine of info! We are about to start building in a couple of weeks and I am stuck on a few things. Firstly, the kitchen cupboards I would like to be glossy white but I can't decide on the benchtop colour. I really want to go for that clean, bright look. The splashback will be glass, the basic one with a greeny look to it and the floor tiles still unsure (any ideas?). Our budget won't stretch to stone benchtops so laminex it is! So please any ideas, input and advice is much appreciated! Kinvara Re: tile and benchtop colours? 3Jan 14, 2008 9:32 am Welcome to the forum kinvara !!!!
Lets choose a benchtop, then I help you on a colour for the tiles. What colours don’t you like? It’s a very broad field for me to answer, with ALL the colours available in Laminates! I have had a look through a laminex colour chart and the 'risotto' looked nice. It is whitish with a fleck of black through it, what do you think that would be like? The floor will probably be a glossy light coloured tile and I was thinking of having a brushed aluminium kickboard and the appliances will be stainless, except the fridge which is white. Re: tile and benchtop colours? 5Jan 14, 2008 4:18 pm Kinvara, I don’t have the sample of the Risotto, so I looked it up on Laminex’s website. It looks like it has a slight tint of pink to it? Or is that just their site?
What colour are you painting your walls? Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: tile and benchtop colours? 6Jan 16, 2008 8:22 am Thanks so much for your help Michelle, I really appreciate it
Not sure about the risotto yet, still waiting for my husband to bring home a sample of it(been in his car for a week ) so I can check if it has a pink tinge or not. Haven't made any definate wall colour choice yet, but it will be light, not stark white but an off white/ light cream I guess. Do you know of any other laminex benchtop that might suit. We are looking at the squareform style and I think there is a limited colour range. Re: tile and benchtop colours? 7Jan 16, 2008 8:47 am I looked at all the Squareform’s last night; I thought there were some nice ones in it.
I’ll have a look tonight for you, at the moment I’m at my OTHER job, so no sample for me to look! 1) Ash Dust. 2) Natural Quartz 3) Platinum Micro If this product keeps getting popular, Laminex will broaden their range. By this time next year you can expect to see more colours in the Squareform. Not that this will help any of you now!!!! (MY FORUM ADVICE IS A GUID ONLY) Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: tile and benchtop colours? 9Jan 16, 2008 5:39 pm I really like both the Ash Dust and Natural Quartz. I don't know where I got the Risotto from, it's not even in the squareform range ! What would be best for the doors do you think? I would love a glossy white, but there seem to be a few 'whites' in the colour palette for laminex. White, Polar white, Parchment the mind boggles! Re: tile and benchtop colours? 10Jan 16, 2008 5:42 pm I looked at the colours I chose from a pure white, which is what I thought you wanted to do…..so I would say Polar White. Thanks for you help, that is the kitchen sorted & I chose a floor tile and carpet yesterday. Off to have a think about the bathroom and ensuite now.
