(nice song Ash and re finding a spot of it Cathski - I'm sure you'll find a spot once you move in. Steve Re: Art 23Jan 15, 2008 10:07 pm I saw Don McLean in concert a couple of years ago. His song 'Vincent' is a great masterpiece of songwriting! It is also what inspired Roberta Flack to write her song 'Killing me softly with his song'.
What is special about 'Vincent' is that Don isn't singing about Vincent... he is singing to him. A song that transcends time and space, and honours someone in am intimate way (though they'd never met). I have a few books on Van Gogh, Monet etc. Love the impressionists! Ash. Thanks for listing some great websites on art.... I think my $40 copperart picture may have to go -(it's actually quite nice - yellow tulips...) I don't think it will do this house the justice it deserves.... By the way what do you all think of fairly big framed family photo's on the walls??(we have many...) I have a nice photo of us in sepia- i'm not sure were to put it!!! I have a fairly large entry but don't know if its the best place to put it!!! When we moved house a friend who helped us move said he has never seen so many pictures/photo's framed before in his life... by the way my hubby is an avid motoring fan and we have photo's of almost every rally car and F1 driver (most of them signed) so he doesn't want to part with them !!!... The only room i want to put those photo's in is the Theatre!! would it be odd to put sport photos's in a Theatre?? I'd actually like this home to have some nice artwork... what do you all think.. Re: Art 29Apr 18, 2008 7:33 pm Houseofmydreams…..I’m probably not the best person to ask about all your photos on a wall.
It’s one of the things I have a …..Thing about? I believe there can be too many, which makes for a busy time of someone’s eyes when entering a room. There is too much to take in. You don’t have a room that is allocated as a den or office; this would be a good place for hubbys photos. Or I guess the theatre room. Not sure about having too much in there either. The one thing you must remember when hanging photos, ALL the frames must be the same, other wise it will look like a mish mash. You also need to put them in a nice order, not any old where, below is an example of what I mean. I think they would be OK for the theatre room, making it a bit like the 'trophy' room . Paula Re: Art 31Apr 18, 2008 7:52 pm I went to a clients once who had soooo many photos down the hall I nearly died! Not one of them was hung straight! It just looked awful!
So she was told to get all new frames and I told her how to do a template of the frames so they could be hung straight. Its not one of my favourite things in a home, my family must think I hate them, not too many family pics here. What is that old saying--- God gave you family Thank god you can choose your friends! Not many of them here either!!!! It always helps to have an objective opinion... someone who doesn't want to offend me by just agreeing with me.... I think a couple of car pics in the theatre & I agree with Paula a couple in the garage!!!! and the family photos i was talking about have all the same beautiful frame (there are 4)...
I don't wan t my home to look sterile but I want my house to have the "less is more" look... although i love my scatter cushions and have purchased approx 8 to go on my new modular... I will post pics as soon as i move in... I am currently between homes!!! Hello! I'm new to this forum and in need of some advice. Should I put an art piece on the blank wall and if so what should I put? Appreciate your help! 😃 0 864 |
